Professor Jennifer Mittelstadt is the guest on this week’s episode of The Chauncey DeVega Show. She is a Professor of History at Rutgers University. He is the author of the new book
The Rise of the Military Welfare State.

In this week’s episode of the podcast, Jennifer and Chauncey talk about the social safety net, gender, race, welfare, and the United States military. Jennifer also offers some great insights about the influence of “free market” ideologies in some surprising places–such as the decision to end the draft in the United States.
