Come to Philly for the three-day conference: Friday, May 5, 6-9 p.m., Saturday and Sunday, May 6 and 7, 10 a.m.–6 p.m.
by Debbie Africa for MOVE
Everybody thinks they’re an expert on MOVE, but they’re not. So MOVE organized this opportunity for MOVE to tell people who MOVE is.
Meet Debbie Africa of the MOVE 9, innocent political prisoners imprisoned since 1978. She delivered her son, Mike Jr., in her cell that year, had to mother him long distance, but here he is with his son, Alex, visiting grandma. All the MOVE 9 were charged with the murder of a single cop, who was shot from above, when the entire MOVE family was below street level, in the basement of their home. Learn why at the conference.
On Friday, May 5, we’ll start with MOVE’s Belief, who John Africa is and why this system wants to exterminate us. This will be the first time ever that detailed information about the famous federal trial of 1981 known as John Africa vs. The System will be shared by MOVE, including sharing excerpts from John Africa’s closing statement and details about how John Africa whipped this system by being acquitted of all charges.
On Saturday and Sunday, May 6 and 7, we’ll go into our history in detail, from the emergence of MOVE ‘til the present, covering years of police brutality; the killing of MOVE babies by police, prior to the bombing; the defensive stand MOVE was forced to take on May 20, 1977, and Aug. 8, 1978; the trial of The MOVE 9 that made the Guiness Book of World Records; and the illegal 900-year sentence of The MOVE 9.
Brace yourself for hearing details of one of the most heinous crimes in the history of this country – the firebombing murder of innocent MOVE men, women, children and babies on May 13, 1985, and the 40 years The MOVE 9 have been unjustly imprisoned.
This most noteworthy event will surely leave you impressed, wanting to know more and appreciative of why MOVE is so committed to our Belief. There will be Q & A and calls from The MOVE 9 and Mumia Abu Jamal.
There will also be food and merchandise venders as well as free childcare and parking
Send The MOVE 9 survivors some love and light:
