Over-conscious about perfection?!

A long time ago, I had seen my parents worry about how they were going to raise their two sons, me and my big brother. Although it was their issue and a necessary burden for every responsible parent, I did not think that it was an immediate need. This is not a simple issue here. A house, makeup, love, clothes, homework, presentations, blogging, talking, listening, family, relationships, marriage, language; everything around a normal person requires perfection. That is what we are fed to believe from childhood itself. It is the need that we should be concerned with, instead of a simple desire.

When my classmates asked why I was so cool and quiet before exams and presentations, I had only one thing to say- “It does not matter to me. After all, its just a test.” That’s it! When the results came out, I had an A+ in every subject.Life, in the long run, is very complex and serious and requires complete perfection in order to succeed. Do not get me wrong. I was not saying anything about being perfect in terms of wealth or knowledge. It’s how we perceive the world that needs perfection.

In my life so far, I have met some very successful people. Both in terms of family and money. They were not perfect at all. It’s just that their “perception” was perfect. The “code” was perfect. Life can only be ‘wholesome’ and ‘complete’, not ‘perfect.’ But the way we look into life must be ‘perfect’ in our own sense. It might not be perfect to others. Each person has their own way, path. It’s just hard to find. Lord knows that I have made my share of ‘grave’ mistakes in my teenage-hood. I dropped out from two famous institutions because of my lack of motivation. But I took a leap of faith in a field that I longed to enter, Arts. Now, I am back on the right track.

The aim is what that matters when you choose a dart to throw. Steady hands and right concentration won’t get you anywhere. Practicing can get you somewhere even you cannot imagine. What is perfect? A big house, fancy cars, fantasies. What?! Just ask your self about what you want, and think about what good it might do to your family or you. If you cannot find out a reason, then it is just a fantasy. A vast majority of teenagers get caught up in crime syndicates and drug money because of the same reason. They cannot find a reason to get out of their fantasies. So, they just go for their idea of perfection instead of what they need.

Apart from styles, trends and relationships, the only thing that an average man thinks about perfection is that of studies. Suicides, depression, drug abuse, misplaced rage, unwanted fear, repression and even a sort of hysteria can be seen in those poor students when the time of the exam comes. People are already scared about their own selves and their surroundings, how will they cope with reality when their parents unconsciously put more pressure into them. All or nothing- this is the motto of many of these ‘geeks.’ They require perfection or a complete loss. The latter will put them in a hard place.

Who is perfect in life? Bill Gates, Warren Buffet. Money is what they have that made me mention their name here. They are not philosophers or spiritualists or anything like that. They have money, that’s all. What about looks? intelligence? or health? What are the chances of their subordinate workers having ten times the IQ than them. While these workers work in their companies, they oversee their progress and work out negotiations for them. Only a minor fraction of what they achieve through these people’s hard work goes into their salaries. In the end of the day, the only thing that these people get is a nod and money. The never ending wave of appreciation goes to the employer. Is that what your notion of perfection is? To be detached and manipulative?

In a more grass-root level, what does a little kid want from perfection. Nothing but some candies and some clothes. The rest are just the additions that parents drown them in. They show their love in that way. And spread on the consumerist values to their kids. The put the kids in colleges that initiate campaigns against consumerism and in the end of the day, these teachers themselves will buy a set of golden glasses and some fancy cars to show off. Cost effective living is something that our politicians brag about every day. What about those election campaigns and funds they use for ‘other’ purposes. So, politicians and even teachers are not perfect after all?!

Language is another area to show off. I have seen many teachers and people around me that tried to impress  me with their perfect English language. Although they just made some sounds that are so repulsive to human ears, we, as students, will have to stand that. They are, in their own way, trying to show off perfection. Look around you, people will bombard you with their distinct proficiency in certain languages and strange dialects. Some perceive them as cool and others do not give a crap at all.

I really hope that people would put more time and effort into knowing what they want and what they need. The second one will only kill your dreams. Look at those so-called celebrities and pop stars. They are just some glorified junkies. Is that what you “need”? A flower is perfect in it’s own sense, one might like it, another might not! It’s just not perfect to every eyes! To those who live in reality, my words might make some sense. Others might not even read this at all. After all, “we are not perfect.” What is worth living for if you are perfect? You have to move forward to realize this truth.

I hope you’ll find some sense in my words. I cannot think about perfection because I am flawed in many ways. But I am good with certain stuff too! That’s what makes sense!
