Loyal Chihuahua Brings Life-Saving Help to Elderly Woman Stuck in Deck Chair

A Texas woman is giving credit to her little Chihuahua for saving her life after she became lodged in a deck chair after it broke.

Evelyn Rogers was watering her plants when she says she sat down to take a break. The 75-year-old woman then became stuck in the chair’s frame. She would remain in the chair for 11 hours before she was rescued.

The next morning, her Chihuahua named Lucy, who had stayed with her all night, barked furiously the first time a person came by. Luckily, the paper delivery person heard the little dog around 5am and Rogers was saved. Ethan Mueller, 30, said he almost drove away, but stopped when he realized Lucy’s bark was continuous.

Rogers, a diabetic, said that before being rescued she wasn’t not worried about being in the dark or the fact that she was being bit by ants, she just worried about dying, as her insulin was inside. Thankfully, she was able to reach the hose, and was able to at least have water.

Her mobile home is located just next to the house her family lives in, but they were gone for the night, and she had left her phone inside.

Luckily, thanks to the unwavering loyalty of little Lucy, Rogers was saved and taken to the hospital here it was discovered she had suffered a minor heart attack. She was treated and released two weeks later. Doctors expect that she will recover.
