FEMA/FCC Takeover Test Fails In Certain Areas, Weird Noises Heard In Others

% of readers think this story is Fact. Add your two cents.

The Intel Hub
November 9, 2011

The FEMA/FCC takeover test was scheduled to happen nationwide about 17 minutes ago. Here in Portland we got a warning about 5 minutes before 11am pacific but then the test never happened.

I repeat, we got no FEMA test here in Portland. Others on different forums are reporting that it didnt happen in their area either while at the same time many are reporting they did see the test at least for a few seconds.

Right now I think its safe to assume the test DID NOT fully work.

In Florida, Intel Hub reporter and radio host Bob Tuskin reported strange sounds coming form his radio that he described as a possible form of mind control! Update: A station manager in Florida confirmed the weird noises and diluted voices that Bob Tuskin heard.

Update: It is confirmed that it did not happen in many of the cities throughout the United States.

What part of “test” isn’t being understood? A test is performed to wring out issues. Apparently, there are issues to address with the EAS

In San Diego, I subscribe to COX cable, with both basic and set-top box advanced service. At 11:03 am, my set top box automatically changed to CSPAN-1, but its content was apparently normal. This was accompanied by an audible click. I could change the set-top box back a short time later. I didn’t try during the 30 seconds the test was supposed to last, unfortunately. But I did have videotape rolling.

After that, the regular basic cable service partially failed, with many channels, though not all, blank, including CNN. The set-top version of CNN did not have this failure. This multiple channel outage for basic cable subscribers lasted at least a half hour or longer.

At no point did I see any indication of an emergency test broadcast signal.

I’d say epic fail. Test or no, it shouldn’t have been that crappy. I slept through it myself and don’t give a rat’s rear. If something disastrous is coming, I’ll probably sleep right through it! :)
