Who's brave enough for the hard questions?

By Michael Thompson

Are Christians just kidding themselves?

Are believers wasting their lives serving an imaginary friend in the clouds?

And do Christians even have the courage to confront the hard questions about God’s existence?

Carl Gallups does, and readers should be prepared for a gut-wrenching, exciting and ultimately inspiring journey in his new blockbuster of Christian apologetics, “The Magic Man in the Sky.”

“Initially, I just wrote the book for my church people and for members of my radio audience who would ask me, ‘How do I deal with these attacks on my religion and attacks from atheists who say evolution is settled science,’” said Gallups.

Gallups directly addresses the doubts and fears of young Christians in a hostile culture. Seamlessly combining insights from history, quantum physics and Scripture itself, he works to address the existence of the divine, biblical truth, evolution, the path to salvation and the meaning of life.

He also tells how Christians can fearlessly and effectively defend their faith and take the Good News to an unbelieving world.

The long-time senior pastor of Hickory Hammock Baptist Church in Milton, Fla., and one of the founders of the PPSimmons Ministry, Gallups said, “People will ask me, ‘If there is a God – and I believe there is – if he really is omnipresent, surely he could prove himself.’ Surely, he’d want to be prove himself to His creation.”

Gallups believes the most persuasive case for the existence of God is the state of Israel.

“The irrefutable proof of God is the nation is the Israel. When it came back to life in 1948, that was a declaration of God’s existence. Prophecies in Deuteronomy [4:32-39] foretold of this event. For 2,500 years, there was no Israel. People said it would not come back. The Jews were scattered for 2,000 years and returned to the land,” said Gallups, who address the context of Deuteronomy 4 in an entire chapter of “The Magic Man in the Sky.”

Referring to Deuteronomy 4:32-39, Gallups writes [of the Israelis]:

What God had done, what He was then doing, and what He would do with the nation of Israel down through the ages would be the proof that He is God, and there is no other.

Before they entered the Promised Land, settled the land according to their tribes, became a nation of any kind, or ever had their first king, Moses prophesied about Israel’s future. The prophecy is startling, for it not only foretells of Israel’s future disobedience but also of its future scattering among the nations as God’s punishment for their disobedience. Of all the things contained within this prediction is also the prophecy that Israel would one day return to the land from where they had been scattered. Once they returned and settled it, the nation of Israel would be revived!

Gallups said, “It was on May 14, 1948, that the proof of God’s existence became apparent to all, as prophecies foretold in The Old Testament – of Israel’s return – came to pass. Allah has never done this, nor has Confucius or Buddha. But God foretold of the return of Israel 2,000 years before it happened.”

See Gallups’ explanation:

“The Magic Man in the Sky” has received heavy praise for the effective manner in which Gallups delivers his message.

Mark Foley, president of the University of Mobile, said: “Few authors articulate the intellectual condition of the church as clearly and effectively as does Carl Gallups in his new book, ‘The Magic Man in the Sky.’ Compelling story telling, careful construction of thought, and solid theological foundations provide one of the best defenses of a biblical world-view currently available.”

Jeff Kuhner, Washington Times columnist and president of the Edmund Burke Institute for American Renewal, said Gallups “is quickly emerging as one of the most passionate, courageous and stimulating Christian radio talk-show hosts in the country.”

“He is absolutely fearless,” Kuhner said.

“The Magic Man in the Sky” is available now at the WND Superstore signed by Gallups.
