Highest Life Expectancies in Latin America

Life expectancy is the average number of years a person would live if the mortality rate remains constant in the future.  Variables such as the quality of healthcare, ongoing wars, obesity, and HIV/AIDS infections affect each country’s life expectancy.

The World Health Organization (WHO) evaluates this information and ranks the 193 nations accordingly.

Internationally, Japan ranked the highest with an overall life expectancy of 83 years (Men: 79 years, Women: 86 years) and Sierra Leone ranked the lowest with an overall life expectancy of 47 years (Men: 46 years, Women: 47 years).

Bolivia ranked the lowest in Latin America, with an overall life expectancy of 67 years (Men: 65 years, Women: 69 years).
