Guerrilla warfare, for most of human history, is not new. Tribal war, which traditionally pits one guerrilla force against another, is the oldest form of warfare. The new “conventional” form of warfare, which pits guerrillas against “conventional” forces, is more recent as it arose in Mesopotamia 5,000 years ago.
The good news for future American freedom fighters is that guerrilla war has been getting more successful since 1945, but unfortunately guerrilla fighters still lose most of the time. An analysis of past conflicts featuring guerrilla war, reveals that only 25% of guerrilla forces, out of 443 such conflicts since 1775, were successful. The government prevailed almost 64% of the time with the remainder of the conflicts ended in a stalemate. Conversely, since the end of WWII, the percentage of success for guerrilla forces has indeed gone up to 39.6%. Yet that still means that government forces have continued to prevail 51% of the time. When the American people engage in a guerrilla war in the upcoming years, the people have less than a 40% chance of success.
Guerilla warfare is very effective ifdone properly. The Taliban will defeat NATO and allies and the Afghan government in Afghanistan. It might take more time but 12 years since 9-11 and the Taliban are still there, still fighting. The same in Iraq. The Indian government says that the greatest threat to the Indian state is not Pakistan but the Naxalite insurgents in the countries east. Men like Shamil Basayev, Baitullah Mehsud, Prachanda, Subcomandante Marcos and others are modern guerilla tactic experts,its unfortunate that some sed guerilla tactics but warfare does that. Drone warfare is no less humane.
I have always wondered why guerilla warfare has been so effect against modern armies. The US lost in vietnam to a bunch of 70 pound peasents led by a 70 pound farmer. How? I think it goes back to that old saying brains over brawn. The US has all the most modern weapons in the world. Lasers, drones, whatever yet when it comes down to good old hard fashion warfare, you stillhaveto have boots on the ground, you are in there territory and there people. When the American revolution happened the 1st time, many people are stillprobably unaware of thisbut only 1/3rd of Americans wanted to split from England. The other 2/3rds wanted no part of any fighting or remained loyal and fought with the red coats. We have similar numbers in polls today showing eeriely similar numbers. The tyranny this time around is much more pervasive.
While the SPLC says there are a 100+ militias out there in America, they probably dont add up to more than a couple thousand men and woman. If they were to rebel, they would definately need to fight this style of battle, in the mountains somewhere. -Mort

Your figures are wrong and here is why! As we all know immediately after the government started attacking the bill of rights and constitution gun sales increased over 300%. In the last five year sales of weapons to protect America is at roughly around 80 million weapons sold! We took to Guerrilla Warfare when the Brits were visiting back in the day, and it was like nothing seen before, a game changing event!

Simple. Indigenous people can be defeated in a battle, series of battles, or series of wars. But if any of those people remain, and their philosophy/way of life remains different from the invading force – given time and the invading forces’ leaving/moving on the land will return to the rule of the indigenous people.
The only way around it would be killing each and every person on that land.

Post WW2 US Federal forces have been getting their asses righteously whiipped in their wars with guerrilas using assymetrical waefare n Korea, Viet Nam, Iraq & now Afghanistan. In each of these engagements the Amurikan empire was driven to the negotiation tables because they couldnt secure victory on the battle field. Some will whin & say “They wouldnt let us fight to win.” Thats BS. N these lost conflicts Amurika & its thug NATO allies deployed thousands of troops, air power, sea power, used chem weapons, practiced genocide on the non-combatant indiginous populations…etc & still got their ass whipped by a bunch of hardcore guerilla 3rd worldlers with a few RPG’s, AKs but no navy, airforce r armor.
