A Texas health worker has contracted Ebola after treating a Liberian who died of the disease in Dallas last week, raising concern about how U.S. medical guidelines aimed at stopping the spread of the disease were breached.

Texas Health Presbyterian Hospital in Dallas, where the new case was announced on Sunday, has already faced criticism for its management of the infection.

A man claiming to have recently traveled to Liberia in West Africa who turned up at the Harvard Vanguard Medical Associates urgent-care offices in Braintree this afternoon complaining of a headache, muscle aches and other Ebola-like symptoms was quarantined and has been brought to one of Boston’s top hospitals under police escort.

A patient who’d traveled to Liberia led a Braintree medical facility to close “briefly” on Sunday, after the patient arrived complaining of symptoms associated with the Ebola virus, medical center authorities said. The symptoms included headache and muscle aches.

The patient was transferred to Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center in Boston, and the facility, the Harvard Vanguard Medical Associates branch in Braintree, has since re-opened. The building wasn’t evacuated, a spokeswoman for the medical practice said.
