Authorities find $1M worth of meth disguised as candy (VIDEO)

A call about a possible burglary in progress in a Harris County subdivision Monday afternoon led authorities in Texas to the discovery of some $1 million worth of methamphetamine disguised as lollipops and other candy.

Deputies responding to the call stopped Evonne Mick and David Salinas, who appeared to have stolen so much “candy” from the home that the duo couldn’t close the trunk to the car they were driving. Further investigation revealed that the candy was anything but.

SWAT, as well as a HAZMAT team, were called in to search the home targeted for the burglary, which is believed to be where the meth was manufactured.

The discovery left neighbors concerned to say the least, especially considering the home’s close proximity to a school. Lt. Ruben Diaz with the Harris County Sheriff’s Office noted that even if the drugs were not sold directly to children, they pose a tremendous threat because the “candy” made of meth could easily be picked up by a child thinking it was regular candy.
