CNN Supports Trump Assassination Imagery While Condemning Violence? WTH?

% of readers think this story is Fact. Add your two cents.

You’d think with all the money these fake news organizations have they could afford to hire people with some actual intelligence to run their companies.  Mainstream media…how much worse does it have to get for ya before you and your paid actors and actresses learn your lesson?

CNN parent company Time Warner has come under fire over its continued sponsorship of the Public Theater’s Shakespeare in the Park production of Julius Caesar, which depicts the assassination and brutal stabbing of its Donald Trump-inspired main character.

You MUST check this out!!

The play prompted a fire storm of tweets like these:

These are the companies which sponsor the assassination of Trump. #AmericanExpress shame on you. #TimeWarner #CNN of course. #Delta did good

@twxcorp So you’re okay with sponsoring presidential assassinations? You’ll never get a dime from me.

The Trump assassination play is also sponsored by the @nytimes and Time Warner, parent company of – @CNN . What a surprise!

The Public Theater is sponsored by the Time Warner Foundation, a nonprofit group supported by CNN’s parent company, Time Warner Inc.

The updated take on the Shakespeare classic sparked controversy over its main character’s close resemblance to President Trump, with actor Gregg Henry sporting a blond, Trump-like hairstyle and a business suit and tie.  The character is later brutally stabbed to death by his associates in the Senate.  But hey CNN, there’s no way that, when you promote depictions of violent acts to a sitting president that you’ll get any kind of public back lash.  I mean just ask Kathy Griffin…oh, wait.

Delta Air Lines and Bank of America have pulled their support for the play following strong backlash on social media.

The airline said in a statement posted to Twitter.

“No matter what your political stance may be, the graphic staging of ‘Julius Caesar’ at this summer’s Free Shakespeare in the Park does not reflect Delta Air Lines’ values. Their artistic and creative direction crossed the line on the standards of good taste. We have notified them of our decision to end our sponsorship as the official airline of The Public Theater effective immediately.”

But, just to keep things balanced, Delta’s twitter page is not getting a barrage of accolades.  Instead, there are a lot of people upset with their move.

This guy says, “Nice job @Delta PR – to pull sponsorship of a 400 year-old Shakespeare classic, because of ignorant Fox News propaganda. Shame on you.”

This lady sayd, “Well, I guess I won’t be flying Delta anymore”

This guy says, “Platinum Medallion member here. You’re shocked/offended by the “graphic staging” of a play about a ruthless dictator being stabbed 23 times?”

On Sunday, Bank of America said it would not have supported the play had it known that it would be presented to “provoke and offend.”

Meanwhile, American Express issued a statement Monday clarifying that its sponsorship of the Public Theater does not include funding for the free Shakespeare in the Park program, and that it does not “condone” the contemporary interpretation of the play.

Adding fuel to the fire over the play online was CNN host Fareed Zakaria, who called the Oskar Eustis-directed production of Julius Caesar a “masterpiece.”

“If you’re in NYC, go see Julius Caesar, free in Central Park, brilliantly interpreted for Trump era. A masterpiece,” Zakaria tweeted last month.

The Public Theater is also sponsored by New York magazine and the New York City Department of Cultural Affairs.

Let the world know your thoughts about this in the comments below.  Is the Trump-like Julius Caesar play something that should be boycotted?  Do you think Delta and BofA did the right thing?  Does it even matter?  Is our culture too sensative, or do things like this foster violence in an already violent prone society?
