Thyrm aims to protect gun mounted lights with CLENS system

Thyrm launched an all new product known as CLENS, crafted to protect weapon mounted flashlight lenses during extended shooting sessions.

CLENS is a heat-resistant, clear polymer circle that attaches to the lens of a light shielding against carbon, dust and debris that can pile up during firearms training. Extended exposure to carbon can permanently damage or discolor lenses, causing some shooters to apply Vaseline before a shooting excursion and spend time cleaning lights after shooting in order to preserve the lens. CLENS simply attaches directly to the lens, covering it from contact with debris.

The circles feature a mild adhesive backing with a higher affinity for polymer than glass, enabling it to easily attach and position on the lens without leaving sticking adhesive residue. The system is removed instantly, providing a clear lens and maximum brightness.

“Our mission is to produce innovative products that address our customer’s needs. Like the SwitchBack and CellVault, the CLENS improves the function of flashlights and weapon lights. There is nothing like it,” said Thyrm CEO Andrew Frazier in a press release.

A collaborative effort between Thyrm and Sage Instruments, the system comes in three sizes developed to fit a wide range of flashlight and weapon light lenses.

“We noticed the degradation of light output as a student progressed in a low-light class. They often struggled to get the light’s lens clean and that process took them out of the class for a period of time. We knew that this was the answer,” Aaron Cowan of Sage Instruments commented in a statement.

The CLENS is available from Thyrm with a price of $8.99.
