More than 15 Million African Men, Women and Children Were Enslaved, Suffered ‘Shameful’ Transatlantic Slave Trade — World Day

Honouring those who suffered the brutalities of the Transatlantic slave trade, United Nations Secretary-General António Guterres said the International Day set aside to remember this “epically shameful” chapter of human history is an opportunity raise awareness about the dangers of racism and prejudice today.

“More than 15 million men, women and children from Africa were enslaved,” Mr. Guterres pointed out in a video message for the International Day of Remembrance of the Victims of Slavery and the Transatlantic Slave Trade, explaining its raison d’êtreto acknowledge a brutal chapter in human history, and to raise awareness of the dangers of racism and prejudice today.”

Every year on 25 March, the Day of Remembrance offers the opportunity to honour and remember those who suffered and died at the hands of the brutal slavery system, borne of the largest forced and legally sanctioned movement of people in human history.

“As we mark the 70th anniversary of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights this year, let us honour those who perished or suffered under slavery,” the UN chief continued.

To permanently honour the victims, the United Nations in 2015 erected a memorial, The Ark of Return by Haitian-American architect Rodney Leon, at its Headquarters in New York.

Also, from 5 to 28 March, UN Headquarters will host a temporary exhibition entitled Remember Slavery: Say it Loud.

It features the work of 11 male and 11 female architects of African descent, whose perseverance, creativity and unique perspective have given them a voice on how public spaces are presented and utilized.

Again this year, the Day is being commemorated during the International Decade for People of African Descent, which runs from through 2024.

“Let us celebrate the gains of people of African descent,” Guterres concluded, “and let us press, every day and everywhere, to defend the dignity of every human being.” (SOURCE: UN).

While I DO wholeheartedly agree that the entire chapter of world history That involves the enslavement and barbarically cruel treatment of 15,000,000 men women and children, entire families and tribes that were captured in their native lands, sold into slavery and transported across the Atlantic to the Americas to be further sold into a lifetime… and generations of slavery is one of the cruelest and most shameful acts and series of events in world history ever to have been perpetrated There is a major element to that story which always seems to be completely left out of that shameful picture…and that is the WHO that was actually doing the capturing and primary selling of these poor African people….and why it was so easy to manage to find 15,000,000 Africans to purchase for a pittance….so cheap that their lives had almost no value….so cheap that it did not matter if half of them died in chains onboard ship before they ever reached the auction blocks of the Americas. I stumbled upon the real and truthful answer to that question a few years ago when I happened to encounter a girl from Ghana that I was interested in and thought I should learn a little of the internal history of that part of the world. If you wish to consider all persons of African descent as one race then you would have to say that the biggest…the primary…and the most shameful perpetrators of this disgusting crime against humanity were controlling factions of the African race themselves who were practicing a form of partial genocide against other African tribes in order to rid themselves of their tribal enemies…entire other tribes and African kingdoms that had been their internal enemies for generations to rid themselves of elements of their race that they considered less than human and tto steal their lands and wealth and to create what they considered a more homogeneous race and society. The BUCK stops their amonst members of the African race….and the true story of their decimation and enslavement begins….THERE…NOT in White America. Everyone shares in the SHAME of these horrible historical events EQUALLY… INCLUDING the AFRICAN RACE…for without their partnership in the slave trade. Without their willingness to go out and destroy and capture and sell entire AFRICAN Villages and Tribes….other elements of their own race in order to steal their tribal lands…the enormity of the disgrace of the African slave trade WOULD NEVER HAVE BEEN POSSIBLE. THEY SUPPLIED AND SOLD THERE BRETHREN FOR ALMOST NOTHING….JUST TO GET RID OF THEM IN THE CRUELEST FORM OF LAND GRABBING INTERNAL GENOCIDE THAT HAS EVER EXISTED.So the next time they wish to remind the world of the BURDEN OF SHAME THAT WHITE AMERICA MUST ACCEPT AND BEAR. LET THEM ALSO PROCLAIM AND CARRY THE AT LEAST EQUAL BURDEN OF THE SHAMEUL PARTNERSHIP OF THEIR OWN AFRICAN PREDECESSORS IN THIS DISGUSTING INHUMANE ACT OF GENOCIDE AND SLAVERY. WHAT? DID YOU REALLY BELIEVE A BUNCH OF WHITE SLAVERS INVADED AFRICA… AND MANAGED TO CAPTURE AND ENSLAVE 15,000,000 AFRICANS ALL BY THEMSELVES? COME ON NOW….SERIOUSLY WAKE UP BLACK AND WHITE AMERICA… YOUR RACIAL ANCESTORS WERE BOTH IN IT TOGETHER…. A 50/50 PARTNERSHIP. BOTH HAD SOMETHING THEY WISHED TO GAIN. GO KICK SOME AFRICAN ASS FOR A CHANGE… White america has accepted the guilt and apologized ENOUGH for their participation in the most shameful partnership in history. NOW ITS YOUR AFRICAN ANCESTORS AND HERITAGE THAT NEEDS TO OWN UP TO THEIR EQUAL COMPLICITY IN THIS SHAMEFUL CHAPTER OF WORLD HISTORY.
