Rare Bird Alert: March 30, 2018
Continuing ABA Area rarities this week include a trio of birds in Arizona in a Streak-backed Oriole (ABA Code 4) , multiple Tufted Flycatchers (5) and Sinaloa Wren (5). A Barnacle Goose (4) continues in Ontario, Nazca Boobies (4) in California, and the Tamaulipas Crows (4) in Texas were seen this week as well.
A pelagic trip out of Tofino, British Columbia. this week had a great many impressive species, highlighted by at least three Short-tailed Alabatrosses (4). The massive seabirds are very rarely seen outside of Alaskan waters, and even there they are hardly a sure thing in much of the western part of that state.
