Poet C.C. Arshagra releases spoken word LP album 'The I.D.'

The writer of spoken-word poetry known as C.C. Arshagra has released his latest spoken-word LP record album, titled, “The I.D.” The album has been independently released on C.C. Arshagra’s own Press22Publishing label, in accordance with his very outspoken stances on artistic capitalism and the ongoing downfall of the art world as a whole. Arshagra’s “The I.D.” is short for the “Inkless Dialogue,” and is so named for its being composed of spoken-word poems. It is available at his website (details below) in a limited edition four-CD Art Collector’s Set. Individual CDs, namely “Vol. 1.1,” “Vol. 1.2,” “Vol. 1.3” and “Vol. 1.4,” plus the “Companion CD” (released 17 September 2011) are also available.

Arshagra has dedicated much of his work to the intellectual defense of art in its higher forms, as well as the protection and uplifting of the artisans who create it.

He has been quoted as saying, “Millions of fine artists live and die on as do we all, without ever being able to support their life’s creative will to be creative full time, to complete or accomplish their full potential giving and leavings on this world. Nothing more than their body of work. I am one of the millions if not one of the billions. And still this changes nothing about my persistent dedication to creativity, humanity, and the arts.”

His call to arms in the artistic community has been responded to with uniform applause and commendation. His rejection of offers that would mar his integrity or yoke his imagination has likewise been an inspiration to writers, painters, sculptors and musicians of all walks of life, many of whom have come to know Arshagra through the far-flung Internet.

“If there are any true benefactors of individual artists who aspire to find persons worthy of their giving potential, beyond their controlling interests,” he once wrote, “I am willing to be challenged by both the temptation to receive such a gift, and the true measure of any rejection of such a possibility due to the commitment that in the end, my contribution need not die undone, and my soul is not for sale.”

Arshagra describes himself in many ways: “Poet, lyric writer, producer, activist, publisher, and beyond. In general terms, if necessary to know anything more, I feel safe to say I am a ‘Cultural Artist.’”
