Meditation Toronto releases new album 'Mantra Meditation'

The yoga group known as Meditation Toronto have released their new EP music album, “Mantra Meditation.” The record has been released by Meditation Toronto, also sometimes billed as the Toronto Meditation Group. Although “Mantra Meditation” is listed as an EP for containing just five original tracks, it has an approximate total listening time of 45 minutes and is therefore longer than many full-length releases. “Mantra Meditation” is intended as accompaniment to the ancient practice of mantra meditation, but serves equally well as soothing music in general.

The sound of “Mantra Meditation” is mellow and natural, guided by delicate female vocals in the tradition of India’s best-loved kirtan and mantra singers. Its instrumentation is tastefully composed and played in such a way as to not obstruct the listener’s peace of mind, but rather to enhance the meditation experience by providing a refreshing and uplifting environment. “We are a group of people who meditate,” writes Meditation Toronto. “We practice and teach an ancient form of yoga known as mantra meditation. Mantras are spiritual or transcendental sounds that have a soothing effect on the soul. We teach others how to meditate free of charge.”

They also describe the effects of meditation as not only bringing relief from stress and anxiety, but also giving the practitioner a taste of spiritual happiness. “A happiness that is beyond the senses and mind,” they write “– a happiness in the heart.”
