Singer-songwriter Chris Hardy releases new rock LP 'Hey Goliath'

The singer and songwriter known as Chris Hardy has released his latest LP rock album, “Hey Goliath.” The record has been published on the Three Beans Music independent record label without the financial or managerial support of the corporate music industry. It comprises 10 original Hardy songs for an approximate total listening time of 35 minutes. Kaleidoscopic, evocative and endlessly original, “Hey Goliath” from Chris Hardy is easily one of the most impressive and enjoyable rock records to appear in years.

Asked to name some artistic influences, Chris Hardy cites Beck, Robyn Hitchcock, XTC, Foo Fighters, and Del Amitri. His own sound bears the same bursting originality and creativity which marked the ‘alternative’ category of the 1990s. Tempos, tones and tenors change on “Hey Goliath” with surprising versatility, yet Hardy’s Sting-esque vocals and remarkable songwriting dovetail each of his songs for a consistent listen from start to finish. The result is a highly textured rock album with elements that span from power pop to alt- rock to bossa nova in nature, making up a record the audiophile can listen to again and again and again.

The ultra-high quality of Chris Hardy’s new LP rings clear even moments after hitting ‘play,’ but Hardy reveals himself to be a modest musician even so.

“I discovered it was the only thing I could do even moderately well,” he writes. “So I kept it up!”

Humility or no, Hardy’s “Hey Goliath” record sports some of the most interesting rock compositions and meticulously written lyrics to have ever come from the independent music realm. His unadorned style of singing allows for easy interpretation of his lines, many of which are humorous, all of which are catchy and fun.

Speaking of the overall theme of “Hey Goliath,” Hardy writes, “The main message is of the David & Goliath type – don’t worry if you’re a little guy, you have amazing abilities and can actually defeat the big guy.”

In keeping with the upbeat tone of the album, which often recollects music by They Might Be Giants and Mono Puff, his musical mission is a happy one.

“I’m trying to put out positive songs into the world to counter all the negativity,” writes Hardy.
