Wall Street Occupation is for Equality Under the Law

We have created poorly structured institutions to enforce and protect our constitution.  The rules and principles of competing interests and compromised powers now reconcile societal needs with what our monied classes believe is the superiority of the benefits civil society derives from their greedy interests prevailing over the interests of the masses for equality under the rule of law.  The U.S. Constitution does not enforce itself and those controlling government certainly have no concern for its enforcement.  It is during such times that the “Tree of Liberty” may need to be nourished with the blood of patriots and tyrants.

Yet, far from personally advocating socialism or open revolt, it seems these may provide the only defense society has against the excesses of a ruling class that has in its hands on all the levers of state power to enforce its tyranny.  There seems to be no way to get to an anarcho-libertarian or anarcho-syndicalist position without first having defeated the state and dismantled its institutions so that they may be replaced by forms of cooperation that lead to a just distribution of resources that are not exploitive nor based merely on monopolistic power that is rooted in or supported by other types of coercion.

To give a group of people the power to create money from nothing is to give them the power of the state that they will surely and finally be used use to maintain and then eventually press their advantage in a manner that history has proven will become increasingly exploitive and tyrannical.  For once money is under their control they will be more interested in power as the marginal utility of purchasing power gives way to the desire for engaging in the tyranny and authoritarianism necessary to maintain such advantage and privilege.

Those controlling the monetary system are not innovators.  They are, as Matt Tabbai aptly described, “a great vampire squid wrapped around the face of humanity, relentlessly jamming its blood funnel into anything that smells like money.”  This class creates nothing of value and steals wealth from every producer by being allowed to legally counterfeit money, and yet this group believes that what is good for them is good for America.  This money monopoly has allowed a cartel to engage in coercion and tyranny while assuming exclusive power over the single most important element in economic interaction.

Americans do not mind competition, but our ruling class has achieved a station where it is profoundly opposed to allowing others to challenge their money cartel with a competing currency.  Yet, in a free society people ought to have the right to decide what “vessel” is a better store of value given that currency manipulation through interest rate regulation and money supply are such destructive forces for a society trying to maintain a stable currency and economic environment.

Yet, Americans have had to battle against a government mandated prescriptive privilege backed not by equal protection and rights under the law, but by the threat of violence against those who would challenge the power of elites who control government and force the people into a position of involuntary servitude to debt in a debt-based monetary system.  The rights one ought to have a free society must be based upon, not the equality of ability or outcome, but the equality of treatment under the protection or punishment of law.  Currently, there is hardly an economic crime committed by corporations for which Americans have not been made victim and for which corporations have been allowed to perpetrate with impunity.  After swindling Americans using toxic derivatives, the banks were even allowed to dump their losses on the American people.

This unpunished fraud, theft and coercion that allowed crimes to be consummated against the people was not based on law, but on the decision of a small group of powerful men whose connivances escape public understanding and scrutiny.  Any rights not based on rules equally applicable to all persons not only denies the weak justice, but also has the possibility of limiting what the more able or fortunate may achieve.   Our monetary system creates a privileged class that has the power to determine the direction of society and the rise and fall of nations by not only limiting what individuals may achieve, but by also giving unfair advantage that perpetuates inequality under the law.

The goal of being a nation of laws as opposed to nation of a few dominant men is to prevent any man or group of men from having the power to decide what another man’s status ought to be.  We should regard this condition as so important to liberty that free men ought to rise in violent opposition if other forms of change can not be peacefully effected.  The elite will surely try to, and in fact already has characterized this drive toward equality under the law as being class warfare, thus we must seek not more than equality under the rule of law and not allow this necessary attribute of freedom to be sacrificed for the gratification of our sense of envy.

To seek to “take care of the masses” ought to be just as offensive to one who finds distaste in the privileged segment of society using to use its power to take care of its partisans.  To use tyranny of a political majority to oppress an economically privileged minority is as wrong in the nature of things as to oppress the masses through the use of economic privilege and government tyranny being controlled by a minority.

When a monetary system is based upon the ability to create money out of thin air, it not only steals wealth by inflation, but it allows credit to be cut off at the discretion of those who profit from starving business of capital.  The other unintended consequence of central planning in money by a dominant elite is to discouraging saving and investment by a large middle class upon which a stable society is built while the elites’ losses due to malinvest caused by a distortion in markets ends up being socialized while the profits are privatized and go to the privileged.

When injustice and tyranny are allowed to fester, those who have been continually wronged find it difficult to suffer quietly in perpetuity, but to deny a people the right to seek redress is cause for war.
