Are polar shifts related to ice ages?
Yes they are. “Ice Ages” are simply regional polar ice caps where the poles happen to be located at that time. There have been ice caps over India and Africa and South America, yet tropical species survived many millions of years in way that could not happen if “ice ages” were global events.
Case in point, Siberia had a warm climate and thriving herds of large grazing animals up to what is now located at 70 degrees North Latitude, while North America had mile thick ice over what is now New York City. Evidence suggests a catastrophic axial pole shift altered our planet’s surface orientation 12–13,000 years ago, causing a mass extinction and the end of our last advanced civilization.
