Quite interesting, as I live in West Texas, within an hour or so drive from WIPP, and I haven’t heard anything about ‘this killer leak’.
In fact, the DOE came out and said the reason for the previous leak was actually due to ‘ENVIRONMENTALLY FRIENDLY KITTY LITTER’ instead of them using the RIGHT ABSORPTION MATERIAL to start with (seems environmentalists are usually the ones who KICK OUR TEETH IN, and never have a clue how they did it).
Please don’t start another round of ‘WE ARE DYING, IT’S RADIATION!’. Seriously people, if you want to report on it, AT LEAST GO TO WIPP first, take a trip around Odessa, Carlsbad, Hobbs, etc. and bring your geiger counter before you go nuts on LIE-NEWS LIVE. Then again, I did consider the source (David Vose? LOL) before I commented, but the last time this happened, you’d swear that Oak Ridge Breeder Reactor had been moved to Carlsbad, and then godzilla had eaten the containment vessel walls overnight.
FYI, this kind of TRASH REPORTING is what causes hundreds of poor, innocent people (who read trash like this) to spend their last $10 for gas to drive into town to get free rad-checks. I watched this the last time the big mouths couldn’t shut up over FAUX NEWS! I saw an old grandmother claim she drove in from Jal (on the NM-TX border) to get her ‘radiation checked’ because her grandson read it on the internet that they were all going to die, only to find that she had zero questionable exposure to radiation, but now SHE WASN’T SURE WHAT THEY WERE GOING TO EAT THAT NIGHT, because the gas money to come in and be tested for free was the last of their family income until the first of the month!

A geiger counter will do you no good at all, as the problem is highly carcinogenic plutonium. Which is an alpha emitter, not a gamma ray emitter.

Inhaled plutonium will not kill you immediately. You might have years before the lung cancer gets you.
Only two of the radiation victims from the USS Reagan have died so far.

And for anyone else who deliberately misunderstands, the danger to the public is not from the (very high) radiation flux at WIPP itself.
It is from tiny amounts of inhaled plutonium, which cause lung cancer.
The famous free body scans Dustdevil alluded to would not even notice, let alone measure,
such plutonium inside your lungs.
There really needs to be a law and punishment for enablers of crimes against humanity, which is what the nuclear industry does every day.
