Police Are Warning if You Spot Purple Fence Posts to Get Away as Soon as You Can

% of readers think this story is Fact. Add your two cents.

If you live in Texas, as well as a number of other states, you have certainly seen a fence post or tree painted purple. And you probably already know not to go anywhere near it. But do you understand why?

Texas and other states with the purple paint law allow residents and land owners to mark the outskirts of their territory with bright purple spray paint. Instead of building a wall or fence around the property, Texans and residents of other states with a similar law understand that purple paint means no trespassing…

Why do states do this? Well because of the unpredictable weather patterns, especially considering the disastrous effect climate change is having on America’s southern states, “No Trespassing” signs can easily be blown away in a wind storm. Landowners need another way to mark the borders of their land.

And as any Texan understands, if someone has a sprawling patch of land, how are they supposed to monitor their property’s boarders if they have to do so much on a daily basis? It’s just too much work for anyone to do on top of farming their land or managing their cattle.

Because the landowners in Texas and other states with the purple paint law have so much land to watch over, they probably wouldn’t notice a single “No Trespassing” sign missing in the first place. It’s not like they go around checking on that every day.

The purple paint law allows landowners to spray it and forget it.

Besides telling any passerby that the land beyond belongs to someone, the purple mark is also known as “No Hunting Purple.” It signifies to hunters that this property belongs to an individual and to stay clear. It can help keep people out of their properties and keep people safe from stray bullets.

The Purple paint law is not new. Arkansas, where Bill Clinton was born, first created this law back in 1987. So if you’ve accidentally wandered beyond a purple painted fence or gate, you’ve broken the law. At least now you know what it really means.

A number of states utilize the Purple Paint Law in order to signify “No Trespassing.” Here is the list:

-Texas
-Illinois
-Missouri
-North Carolina
-Maine
-Florida
-Idaho
-Arkansas
-Montana
-Arizona
-Kansas

Does your state have the Purple Paint Law? Do you think it is a good law to institute in every state?

According to Central Texas Geocachers, Purple paint markings in Texas “must be: vertical, at least 8 inches long, at least 1 inch wide. [The] bottom of the mark should be between 3-5 feet above the ground. Markings can be no more than 100 feet apart in timberland. Markings can be no more than 1,000 feet apart on open land, [and] they must be in a place visible by those approaching the property.”

Sign is just a sign, unless enforced by ”castle doctrine” legislation. You only own land in places where ”castle doctrine” is officially recognized by legislation. Right to enforce privacy separates slaves of various degrees from people whom have potential for actual freedom.

    • Hi NSA, kiss my artichoke

Have heard from others, not checked myself, that purple markings INSTEAD of no trespass signs, are a legal invitation to any and all law enforcement to enter your property at will?
      May vary state to state.
One would have to look at the laws fine print.

No such law in Montana. You can mark boundaries with a red or orange blaze, but I’ve never seen a single purple fence post in Montana.

Live in Texas, but never heard of this.

“… because of the unpredictable weather patterns, especially considering the disastrous effect climate change is having on America’s southern states”

Get a life. Climate change has been large and continuous on this planet for about 4 billion years regardless of the presence of humans.

I’m from Arkansas and in Arkansas it tells hunters that land beyond the sign is a paid lease and you are not welcome to hunt there unless your name is on the lease or you are there with permission of the lease holder. Keeps hunters safe. That’s it nothing nefarious about this. Simple. Stop making a mountain out of a mole hill.

    • DRAUGR

I do not believe this. It is the fact that most people do not know about this purple fence thing that makes it ridiculous. What good is a no trespassing marker if no one knows what it means. If someone does use purple paint and a “trespasser” is hurt on the property then the property owner would get the living sh&% sued out them for not posting a universaly recognized sign stating “No Trespassing”. It would be like me deciding that red ribbon on my fence post means no Trespassing. So what if no one else knows what he hell it means. The little quip about “Global Warming” causing no trespassing signs to “blow away” was the tip-off that this story is more BIN bullshit.

True, look at the rainbow for example. It was the symbol that God would not flood the entire earth ever again. The sodomites removed one color from it and called it their own in complete rejection of God’s promises, provisions and Watchful Eye over His creation. We are truly in the days directly before the coming of Jesus Christ to remove us before He pours out His Wrath on the earth, coming soon to a city near you! Get saved! Here’s how in 7 easy steps.

1.) Forget everything you ever learned about the bible taught by public school, friends, parents, etc.
2.) Get a King James Bible at the Dollar Tree, all other versions are PER versions of God’s word
3.) READ the book of Romans by the Apostle Paul who was the apostle to the Gentiles.
4.) Ask God to help you to understand the Gospel and what you are reading
5.) Read all of the epistles of Paul UNTIL you understand the Gospel of Jesus Christ
6.) When you finally understand, you will be sorry for your sins.
7.) Confess them all and repent of them asking God to forgive you….That’s it; you’re saved!

There is no King James Bible. There is King James Version(KJV), which is called Bible by some people, although it is rather recent version even by ”born again standards”.

        • MediaMike

Any Bible after Constantine is a “per” version, as the Books of Mary, and 14 others were removed which revealed the truth of the LONG life of Yeshua ben Yosef. The KNOWLEDGE intended to be passed down ad infinitum became occult to separate us from our source and potential power.

        (b) Instead of posting land as provided in subsection (a), any landowner or person in lawful possession of any land may post such land by placing identifying purple paint marks on trees or posts around the area to be posted. Each paint mark shall be a vertical line of at least eight inches in length and the bottom of the mark shall be no less than three feet nor more than five feet high. Such paint marks shall be readily visible to any person approaching the land. Land posted as provided in this subsection shall be considered to be posted by written permission only as provided in subsection (a).

You don’t understand. It means the land owner, can shoot, and eat you.

DRAUGR, I stead of acting like the all-knowing all-seeing man of BIN, go to any of these states websites and type in the proper search words, you’ll find that this is law in these states and perfectly acceptable.
I live in Texas and have painted my fence posts purple on my little plot of land. I’ve never had trouble with trespassers but my neighbor did and he also had his fence posts painted purple. The person that was caught
trespassing went to jail and paid a fine.

        • iamamerican

Landowners are not responsible for everyboy else’s ignorance.

Color blind people will see BLUE…if they can’t distinguish red, which is part of the color purple.

Weathered purple likely looks pinkish, reddish, or grey-blue…depending on the paint mix and how the pigments react to UV (it can vary quite a bit).

People using red-filtered flashlights/headlamps (to preserve night vision) will see only the color RED, and it will be a “dark” red as the the blue component of the color purple will be interpreted as black, effectively reducing the visibility.

I would also imagine “dark” purple would be difficult to see or distinguish from black, so that suggests there should be some stipulation as to the SPECTRUM of purple and the “brightness” of the paint that is recognized by law.

    • Pinto Beans

You are nuts! BTW, your first photo is painted with a brush not sprayed. Does that make a difference? LOL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

What’s really screwy are laws in places like Colorado where I live. The cattle are allowed to roam freely, and it is your responsibility according to Colorado ‘Open-range/Fence Out’ laws to fence your property off to keep the cattle out, instead of the cattle owners having to keep their cattle on their property. If you don’t have a fence around your property and someone’s cattle damages your property, you have legal recourse to pursue claims for property damage. Oh, and if you happen to hit a cow on a 70 mph highway—even if it’s dark out, there are no road lights, and the cow has strayed off its owner’s property—it’s considered YOUR FAULT.

      • Morgana Le Fay

Typo: “If you don’t have a fence around your property and someone’s cattle damages your property, you have NO legal recourse to pursue claims of property damage.”

I’m Bundy’s neighbor and one of his free-range bulls ate one of my plants in the backyard. It just goes with the territory when you live next to the Bundy’s. They did have a fantastic picnic the other day to raise some cash. These are interesting times.

      Really? PURPLE?

That’s a SODOMITE COLOR!!!

You know Slimey… those fence posts looked like crude wooden “hammers” from the small pix.

Speaking of crude carved wooden pink phallic pixxxxes. Where is Pix?

I’m wondering who the sponsor of this cattle tale might be. It gives me the impression that a well known PURPLE COW in Europe is starting some kind of PR gag to become better known among cow hustlers, dead duck hunters and big foot followers to get up and go get their daily supply of chocolate before you get a seisure…
In Europe it is well known that you are not allowed to hunt purple cows…. muuuuh….
