While thousands of establishment reporters shed all objectivity and professional ethics, being paid off or threatened into favoring any and all candidates over Trump, the independent reporters crashed through the lies and the hidden truths to get to the real story and make sure the waiting audiences around the globe got the facts they needed.

The 2016 Election became a stunning opportunity for citizens to add their voice and thoughts to the tired old rhetoric being spouted by the mainstream media. Citizen reporters were on the spot, seeing and feeling the events unfolding around them. On 12 November 2016, the publisher of The New York Times put in writing a promise to readers that the paper would dedicate their efforts to actually reporting “honestly” on events in the world and especially in America. Sounds like a case of petulance because the organization was caught red-handed with their lies and biased reporting.

A positive side effect of the exposure that mainstream media attempted to dupe the public and influence an election has been for individuals to realize their own power to cover the truth and get it published, and to know they need to look to independent news outlets for the facts and not a fabrication of the events happening at the moment. And citizen reporters who participated in this event will never hesitate to lend their voice to situations both large and small as the demand for the truth and all the facts becomes a driving force.
