My theory is that brain cell death causes depression and anxiety. The spice turmeric stops brain cell death and increases new brain cell formation by 80%.
For mood enhancement, seven weeks ago I started taking level measuring teaspoon of turmeric mornings and evenings (7 AM & 7 PM). I immediately noticed an enhancement of mood.
Then a week ago I added a level 1/8th cup of nutritional yeast mornings and it’s a very positive effect.
Turmeric preserves glutathione and taking reduced glutathione also stops brain cell death and starts new brain formation. However, a bottle of 60 reduced glutathione 500 mg capsules costs $20 and I just bought a 5 lb box of turmeric for $12 and change from an outstanding grocery called Winco Foods.
Turmeric also protects against Alzheimer’s and dementia, so maybe those are caused by brain cell death as well.
WincoFoods has numerous locations in most large cities in the western states and 9 locations in Dallas, TX. They also carry nutritional yeast (I think it’s Red Star brand) in the bulk area like the turmeric. The lady in bulk asked if I wanted a 5 lb box of turmeric and I definitely did. I also bought 2 lbs loose of nutritional yeast at $8.34/lb and it filled a large clear produce bag.
I think turmeric and nutritional yeast is a good combo for restoring mood. My understanding is that a level teaspoon of turmeric is about 1 gram.
