Instagram is bringing Stories to its Explore section to get more people using the new feature.
Instagram Stories, which was launched in August, captures your daily photos and videos in a slideshow format. The images are not published to your profile. Instead, they disappear after 24 hours has elapsed.
“More than 100 million people visit Explore every day to discover photos and videos from people they don’t yet follow. The new suggested stories section highlights the most interesting stories from across Instagram’s vast global community — and like the rest of Explore, the stories you’ll see are personalized to your interests.”
With Stories, over posting fears are eliminated because once the posts disappear they no longer appear on your profile grid or in feed.
Stories from people you follow can be found in the bar at the top of your feed. When something new has been uploaded, the profile photo of the poster will be designated with a colorful ring around it.
To check out a story, simply tap on the user’s profile photo. To leave a comment, your only option is to send a private message to that person on Instagram Direct. Likes and public comments are only available on regular posts.
Your stories will adhere to the privacy settings of your account. For example, if your account is set to private, your story will only be visible to your followers. You also have the option of hiding your entire story from anyone you choose, even if they follow you.
