Crowdfunding has quickly become one of the most innovative ways to do business. Startups swear by it, and even well-established brands have given it a try. If you want to raise funds, invest funds or build a business within the crowdfunding industry itself, Sydney, Australia is the place to be on Dec. 2.

The Crowdfunding Institute of Australia (CFIA) will host its annual conference at the University of Technology Sydney, with the theme “Shepherding Popularity Into Reality.”

The high-energy conference will be modeled after TEDx, with mostly 20-minute, short sessions by dynamic speakers such as: Christopher Mulcahy, founder and CEO of Enablr, an online fundraising platform for charities; and Alan Crabbe, co-founder and director of Pozible, who introduced crowdfunding to Australia and Asia Pacific. Robert Inglis, co-founder of the Australian Private Equity and Venture Capital Association Limited (AVCAL), will conclude the conference with his session titled “Where To From Here.”

Conference-goers can expect to learn more about new developments in Donation, Rewards, Equity, Debt and Property Crowdfunding, said Andrew Ward, Independent Director at CFIA. Confirmed attendees include those in ASIC, ATO, Treasury and most of the platform CEOs in Australia.

“It’s ironic that the crowdfunding industry only gets together as a crowd at this event each year. However, that’s what makes it so important to attend,” said CFIA Chairman Matthew Pinter.

The conference will address the diversity of crowdfunding developments with a four-part conference agenda:

Session 1: Global and Local Conditions

• Dean McEvoy, Tech Sydney

• Dr. Danielle Logue, UTS

• Tom Nockolds, Community Power Agency

• Jack Quigley, CrowdFundUp

Session 2: Campaigners

• Dr. Dion Klein, iPledg

• Chris Mulcahy, Enablr

• Panel: Matthew Pinter (CFIA), Lester Miller (IPSolved), Aaron LePoidevin (PwC) and Gary Shapiro (Rimon)

Session 3: Platforms

• Stuart Thornton, WorldPay

• Sean Gordon, Kids Give

Session 4: Investors
