Google is trying to ramp up sales of its Google Home with a brand new promotion: Buy Home and get Chromecast or Chromecast Audio for free.
Valid through March 18, once you add a $129 Google Home and a $35 Chromecast or Chromecast Audio to your Google Store cart, the $35 will be automatically deducted — making the streaming device free.
The deal is available only to U.S. shoppers.
The voice-controlled, AI-powered Google Home assistant is challenging Amazon’s Echo device, which has been around much longer and enjoys a wider customer base. The promotion is, seemingly, a bid to lure new customers.
Built to be a control center for the home, the device can perform Internet searches, answer questions and perform tasks like updating your schedule or booking a reservation. Google Home can also be linked to Chromecast and Smart devices and appliances, meaning it can control the temperature in your home, not to mention the Smart fridge and television.
Chromecast, a fancy USB device, enables you to plug it into your TV to stream content from your Smartphone or tablet via apps like Netflix, YouTube and Google Play. Chromecast Audio, meanwhile, allows you to stream music from your devices to your home speakers.
