(Before It's News)

Uber senior vice-president of engineering Amit Singhal was asked to leave the high-tech transportation firm this week after some old sexual harassment allegations surfaced.

Uber CEO Travis Kalanick asked Singhal to resign Monday morning, Recode is reporting. The request came after the company’s executive was informed of sexual harassment allegations Singhal faced when he worked at Google.

Singhal was vice-president of search at Google for 15 years and resigned last February after a company investigation found a sexual harassment complaint filed by a female employee against Singhal to be “credible,”  Recode reported.

After leaving Google, Singhal went on to work at Uber, but apparently did not disclose the sexual harassment allegations. Kalanick and his senior executive only became aware of the incident after hearing from Recode earlier this week.

Singhal has denied any wrongdoing.

“Harassment is unacceptable in any setting. I certainly want everyone to know that I do not condone and have not committed such behavior,” he said in a statement to Recode. “In my 20-year career, I’ve never been accused of anything like this before and the decision to leave Google was my own.”

Recode, however, said he resigned from Google before he could be fired.

Singhal’s ouster from Uber comes after former employee Susan J. Fowler accused the firm of sexual harassment, although the issues she wrote about in a lengthy blog post are not related to Singhal’s situation.

Uber and Google have yet to comment on the matter.
