Google Home should soon be landing in the U.K.
An invite for a March 28 event in London, hosted by Google, is now in circulation and the media is reporting the tech titan will be announcing the U.K. debut of Google Home.
The invitations were sent to U.K. members of the press to “meet the newest members of our family,” the Mirror is reporting.
Given that Google confirmed to the BBC at last month’s Mobile World Congress event in Spain that Google Home would launch between March and May of this year, experts are predicting the invitation is linked to Google Home’s official U.K. unveiling.
The voice-controlled, AI-powered Google Home assistant, which thus far is available only in the U.S., is challenging Amazon’s Echo device, which has been around much longer and enjoys a wider customer base.
Built to be a control center for the home, the device can perform Internet searches, answer questions and perform tasks like updating your schedule or booking a reservation. Google Home can also be linked to Chromecast and Smart devices and appliances, meaning it can control the temperature in your home, not to mention the Smart fridge and television.
