So So Def

Jermaine Dupri has written and produced some of the most prominent hits in R & B and Hip Hop music in the last decade. He has crafted chart toppers for Xscape (“Just Kickin’ It”), Usher (“U Got It Bad”), Mariah Carey (“We Belong Together”) and Bow Wow (“Shortie Like Mine). Like him or not, you have to admit that he’s built up quite an impressive resume. But that may be changing very soon. As many artists have faced, Jermaine Dupri is facing a lawsuit in relation to his hit making So So Def label. SunTrust Bank is suing Dupri to the tune of $1.9 million for a $4.2 million loan he defaulted on from 2010.

To make matters worse, Jermaine Dupri used the So So Def catalog as collateral for the loan he would eventually default on. Yep, all those hit songs that he lent a hand in making could all be gone in the blink of an eye. At least the rights of them. Considering this was once the man who proclaimed that “money ain’t a thing” in the 90s with rapper Jay Z, it’s an overwhelming thing now. And this isn’t his first time having money problems. A previous loan was taken out in 2009 in order for Dupri to pay off some liabilities and taxes. Plus, he has faced foreclosure twice on his $4 million mansion.
