About Elwin Ahu

In 1995, while serving as a Circuit Court Judge for the State of Hawaii, I experienced a radical transformation in my heart and accepted Jesus Christ as my Lord and Savior. That one decision has proven to be the defining moment in my life.

On January 1, 2000, I resigned from my promising judicial career in order to respond to God’s call, and stepped down from the bench and up to the throne of God and entered into full-time ministry.

From 2000 to 2011, I served as New Hope Oahu’s Executive Pastor and Lead Campus Pastor of its home campus in Honolulu. I also served as one of its teaching pastors and developed a passion to teach, inspire, equip and disciple believers towards a deeper love for one another and for the heart of Christ.

In 2011, the Lord tested my faith once more and in obedience to His call, together with a team of great leaders, we planted New Hope Metro. In addition, as a life-long student of God’s Word, I am also pursuing a Master’s Degree in Global Leadership through Fuller Theological Seminary. I have a passion to surf and can’t live a week without riding the swells of the South Shore of Oahu.

I am blessed with a wonderful, God loving wife, Joy, and two sons, Brandon, a young adult pastor, and Jared, who brings out the best in us!
