Fairfax County, VA – Police in Virginia, have released video showing the events leading up to the death of Natasha McKenna, a 37-year-old woman who died in February, days after she was hit with a stun gun four times while being forcefully removed from a jail cell at the Fairfax County Detention Center.

The deputies involved in McKenna’s death will not be charged, the district attorney announced this week. The video, which is more than 40 minutes long, shows a team of deputies, dressed in protective gear, removing McKenna from her cell.

The district attorney’s full report, which declared McKenna’s death an accident, not a crime, can be read here. Her death was ruled accidental by the medical examiner, caused by “excited delirium associated with physical restraint including use of conductive energy device, contributing: Schizophrenia and Bi-Polar Disorder.”

McKenna, who had a history of mental illness, was being removed from her cell to be transferred from Fairfax County to Alexandria city jail.

Again. This is what happens when you substitute disinterested and unqualified people for mental health professionals. Had this woman been in a mental institution (do they exist anymore?) the staff could have subdued her without electrocuting her with tasers. They do it all the time.
Shock and awe responses like this only escalates the terror and rage the psychotic individual is experiencing. They are not processing information or commands to stop resisting arrest etc. Our caring society.

Shirley Histen
James Turner ~ Oh my gosh this is frightening. There’s no way she could have been resisting with 5 or 6 big men on top of her. I wonder why they needed the masks to go in for her. What did they give her and do to her? And this country criticizes other countries for human rights abuses.

Scott Stockwell · UC Berkeley
She was afraid that they would kill her. I guess she had good reason.

Obadiah Owens
The guy in the video at the bottom moved to put his knee on her neck. You can hear her struggling for life. It’s natural human reaction when in pain the body moves to stop the pain. If you struggle for life it’s a natural reaction to fight for your life but we keep hearing over and over “STOP RESISTING”.

Jennifer Paggeot Fisher · Tucson, Arizona
Obadiah Owens, I have said much the same thing over and over again: when someone is beating you about the face and head, your first, most natural instinct is to shield your face and head…while they are simultaneously screaming at you to put your hands behind your back. What?? WHO can override that most basic instinct? It’s exactly the same as trying to wriggle away (resist) from the source of pain.

Shirley Histen
John Saint ~ That was my thought … that to repeat “Stop resisting” MIGHT make it believable that she had any CHANCE of resisting. Was an autopsy done?

Steve Evets
My 23 year old schizophrenic goddaughter who was in the midst of a psychotic breakdown was afraid of the cops who took her to the hospital and she was right–they broke her arm.

Kaitlyn Richardson
Actually, in this case they arrested her as soon as she was discharged from a hospital where she was being treated for the episode. The reason? She had “resisted arrest” when she was originally brought to the hospital in the throes of psychosis. She was recovering and the doctors insisted she not be arrested, but the cops threw her in jail anyway. She worsened rapidly as she was repeatedly beaten and tormented, and eventually they killed her.

The people who chose not to charge these monsters are also monsters.

Mina Jiluda
Sadistic psychopaths working with and for the sadistic psychopaths that protect them. Our country shows too much nerve to preach to others about human rights.

Mike Kurz · Tobyhanna, Pennsylvania
“On Feb. 3, McKenna was shocked four times while she was restrained by several officers at Fairfax County Adult Detention Center in Virginia. She stopped breathing minutes later and was transported to an area hospital, where she died after five days.”

FIVE DAYS LATER. She suffered for five days because multiple officers couldn’t handle restraining her without killing her. Slowly. Over the course of five f*cking days.

Sheriff Kincaid might as well have just said “We cleared the officers of wrongdoing. Now that we got that out of the way, watch this video of those officers torturing a woman to death.”

Armando R. Paredez
the sad part is that they have become so sadistic that they don’t consider any of these actions outside the norm or the law.

Mina Jiluda
Armando R. Paredez That is because the legal system does not hold them accountable. Therefore, they believe they, themselves are the law.

Obadiah Owens
Vary hard to watch someone die on video like this. There is no respect for humanity and how people can just continue to live and not be bothered by their actions to cause a human to die is even more troubling.

Dave Watson
my god. any third world country would have handled that better. antagonizing her from the start is really smart. send in 2 women to talk with her for a minute at least, someone with some compassion at least.

Armando R. Paredez
its prison… they train compassion out of them or simply force those out. what was that university experiment they did in the 50s or 60s in which the guards became so sadistic they had to stop it before its conclusion?

Ronald Burker · Boonsboro Senior High
Armando R. Paredez I worked almost 20 years in prison and I would not be afraid to let anyone talk to the inmates that I dealt with. I gave inmates nothing but human respect and most would tell you that. Of course I been sued, that is normal. They are people and this treatment of the mentally ill is BS

Ingrid Buxton · University of Minnesota
This is what happens when all the treatment centers and even homes for the mentally ill are closed down and the supposed community facilities are never build the money being diverted into tax breaks for the wealthy. But what is really pathetic is that none of these cops know how to hold a person from behind, locking one arm under another with a second person sitting on the legs so the people cant hurt themselves or anyone else. I learned this technique 40 years ago working with emotionally disturbed kids and we never even had a kid needing medical attention after a holding.

Regina Taylor
They did not even have the decency to cover her up. This is really sickening.

She’s not human to them. It didn’t even click to do this.

Mentally ill people should be in hospital, not prison.
It’s disgusting, barbaric, and dehumanizing.
Not to mention Natasha was tazed four times.
She was murdered for not complying, do to mental illness.

Chris DeBolt · Petal, Mississippi
Armando R. Paredez More likely a mentally ill patient saw 5 large men in white suits with gas masks coming for her and panicked. If you’re in any way delusional or paranoid that scene is only exponentially more terrifying than it already is, especially if you’re unable to understand why or how you’re in that concrete cell to begin with.

I could tell the minute she died, why couldn’t they, and those ” nurses “? Just awful!

And it never fails to amaze me how cops never realize that any kind of action makes a reaction. In other words, if you don’t approach with force but calmly maybe the subject won’t fear for its safety and vice versa.
And as soon as the subject is frightened and instinctively tries to make any comfort by, idk, hiding or ducking on the ground, that same action is considered as a “threat”. Even worse, a threat to pigs life.·

reminds me of a regular gang bang! The training that the Sheriff spoke about is not evident. She does the blah, blah of the incumbent bureaucrat avoiding or lessening the impact of a needed civil suit! The guy with the taser does nothing but stand around. Five guys suited up is sufficient to restrain the woman with obvious emotional problems. The woman’s breathing problems . Oh, that poor woman, it is difficult to watch. The three deputies standing around in the background are a real treasure. Gordon Liddy was right. Jailers are the lowest of the low! She is obviously terrified and not fully aware. They have the means and strength to overcome her efforts. Eight people plus one Sheriff need to be fired! To claim these clowns are trained is an affront to prudence and responsibility!! When I saw the Nurse, I thought things would improve. I see the woman is already convulsing! The Nurse is no help in an attempt to preserve this woman’s health! It became apparent that the woman was in physical distress early on. Nothing was dome. The woman had a long history of severe mental illness and did not have the capacity to understand or comply. The training of these individuals only provides for their protection. This woman should have been confined in a mental facility more than a month before her arrest. This is the state of mental health care today. It breaks my heart to have witnessed this absolute ignorance and lack of compassion. The only uplifting moment is the arrival and departure of the competent EMT team! This simply did not have to happen; at 25:30 an ambulance should have been called. There will never be real justice in this case. Ms. McKenna God bless you in the next world, you will never get justice in this one.

from the beginning shewas absolutly calm and not resisting at 4:10 someone’s holding her leg and she cant do anything – at 4:45 she’s moaning cause THEY ARE DOING SOMETHING TO HER, here is how DEMONS acting – the same in every dead scène of police’s brutality

Such incompetent workers I have never seen. Now you cops realize that you can’t taze people they could die, esp not 4 TIMES!!!

just from the noises shes making I can tell shes in medical distress

Incompetence leads to negligent manslaughter. This could have been done easily if these officers would have called competent medical personal. One shot of demerol (meperidine) and she could have been handles by two people respectfully. Civil suit, retraining, and some prison time needed here. Police nurse and all.

it’s all wrong! from the medical point of view, wrong procedure of handling a psychiatric patient. we do not just shock someone and then cover their face with a cloth. electricity has an influence on muscles, including the heart, and diaphragm which control breathing! such ignorance and lack of medical personnel! for doctors, we see only human beings; immaterial whether they are a criminal or a saint!

So sad. Why was her face covered up, they cant see if shes despondent, that is cruel, she seems scared enough and mentally ill? Took long time to properly try and resitate her when they finally realized she wasnt breathing…..RIP…prayers to the family…so sad they had to see it on video ·

Unbelievably disgusting treatment of the mentally disturbed. They could have just gassed her in the cell to knock her out, then removed her without so much as a bruise or scratch on anyone.

The woman is already mentally ill so why not just show up in fucking spacesuits?!? All these fearful and scared welfare collectors need to be in prison themselves including that whore Sheriff.. God knows they do nothing at all productive for society, just common parasites looking for a meal.
