-Georgia: State Demands Minister Turn Over Sermons?

% of readers think this story is Fact. Add your two cents.

The Georgia state Attorney General is demanding that a minister turn over copies of all of his sermons in a court case. Here’s the story from Fox News:

A lay minister who is suing the Georgia Department of Public Health for religious discrimination has been ordered by the state’s attorney general to relinquish his sermons to the government, according to federal court documents.  …

Dr. Walsh said he will not comply with the request.

“No government has the right to require a pastor to turn over his sermons,” Walsh said. …

“He was fired for something he said in a sermon,” attorney Jeremy Dys told me. “If the government is allowed to fire someone over what he said in his sermons, they can come after any of us for our beliefs on anything.”

Response: This is unprecedented. Dr. Walsh was a minister that actually lost his state job over something he said in a sermon at church. Not for anything that he actually said, did, or left undone on the job. Now he is suing the state of Georgia over religious discrimination.

It is all about his personal Biblical views and a new ‘religious homosexual and same-sex marriage test’ for public service that the left is trying to impose upon America. Such tests have been declared to be illegal in the past. It will be interesting to see how the courts react in the present climate.

The mayor of Houston TX tried to force pastors who opposed her transgender bathroom agenda a couple of years ago but was turned away by the courts. Folks all across America were shocked and angered by that abuse of power. Now we have the Georgia AG trying the same tactic?

So now Christians have to worry about being fired from public positions because of what they may have said in the context and confines of a church service? Even if they never expressed their closely held beliefs to anyone while on the job? That is what this case is all about.               *Top
