Politics and Christians

(Before It's News)

My father was a minister whose politics weren't hidden, but by the same token, my parents never voted in ANY election at all.  Why?  My mom explained that they felt that God would always elect the right people.  So, for them, there were no political debates.  I was against the Vietnam War and once told my dad that we should either bomb the hell out of Vietnam or get out.  I saw Vietnam in the same way that I viewed our involvement in Iraq.  I didn't see a way out of Iraq, just as I didn't see an end to our involvement in Vietnam.  But my point was not well received by my father, who felt that if Vietnam fell, so would all the nations and that the Chinese would then focus on the US.  But still, he never voted for the people who put us in Vietnam, just as he wouldn't have voted for those who put us in Iraq.  Mom said that she and dad always felt that if they prayed for the leadership of this country that those in power would do the right things from mayors of towns and cities to governors and presidents.  So, for them, any discussion of politics was based on how my father believed the leadership of his churches thought.  And generally speaking, Christians tend to be conservative in their politics.

But the question I have asked all my adult life is whether I should involve myself in the political discourse; not just that of the US, but of the world.  And it's a question I have answered for myself in that I would say that what I claim my Angels told me IS political IF indeed there are those who can't accept what I claim is from my Angels.  When I say that NOTHING is MORE important to God than EVERY single Human Life, the fact is, depending on your views of this statement and how well you know me personally, most anyone would suggest my Angels ARE political by default.  The fact is, I am against the taking of ANY Human Life for ANY reason.  But recently, President Obama is credited with taking the life of one of the key leaders of ISIS.  And the question most anyone might ask me is how I feel about that.  And the fact is, I see ISIS as a threat to the world and that I can't stop the killing in warfare.  I would suggest that soldiers just do their job because they have taken an oath to do so.  President Obama didn't personally kill this leader, but he is probably responsible for soldiers to have done so based on the intelligence reports he received on this man.  Does that make President Obama a murderer?  He didn't take the life of this man.

The fact is the world of politics is messy.  It's why arguments ensue about who is best qualified to lead by vote.   I am not sure that Christians should vote.  In fact, I would go so far to say that maybe even Christians shouldn't even hold office.  This world isn't our home.  We are just passing through.  And with that thinking comes the fact that our politics is in heaven and we recognize Jesus as the sole leader of heaven and the heavenly hosts.  I can only say that EACH Christian has to decide for himself or herself as to how involved in politics he or she wants to be.  I would say that we accept whomever is elected and as Jesus would say, we render unto the leaders because in fact, they are our leaders.  I am Brother Ralphie writing for my Angles from The Angels of Life Institute.  Peace.
