UK’s speaker of the House of Commons told LGBT activists that marriage would not truly be ‘equal until churches are required to participate in same-sex marriage. From PJ Media:

In a shocking attack on religious freedom and even property rights, the speaker of Britain’s House of Commons argued that the country won’t have “proper equal marriage” until churches are unable to turn away requests to host a same-sex marriage.

“I still feel we’ll only have proper equal marriage when you can bloody well get married in a church if you want to do so, without having to fight the church for the equality that should be your right,” John Bercow, the Commons speaker, declared at a PinkNews reception in July.

Britain legalized same-sex marriage in 2013, but Bercow suggested that the LGBT issue will not be settled until churches are unable to refuse to host such weddings.

Response: I mentioned in an article yesterday that churches and ministers who refuse to participate in same-sex marriages would soon be targeted by LGBT activists. In America we still have a Constitution that supports religious liberty but it is a whole different deal in the UK.

The UK in particular supports a state church which gives the government far more power to regulate and control. Commons Speaker Bercow is talking about forcing   churches and the Church of England in particular to provide for same-sex marriage. Denmark’s Parliament has already forced their state Lutheran Churches to conduct same-sex marriages so it would not be a stretch for the UK and other European nations to follow suit.

In the midst of Australia’s conversation over it’s non-binding vote on Same-sex marriage the Prime Minister has been forced to come out in support of religious freedom because a large majority (59%) on the LGBT side want the churches and ministers to be required to provide same-sex ceremonies.  So much for religious freedom and it is said that the PM’s party is deeply divided over the issue.

In the same article is a link to an LGBT group in Ohio that plains on targeting churches who normally rent out their facilities for events and legally force them to allow same-sex ceremonies whether they believe in it or not. Several other groups that I have come across are pushing for forcing churches to perform same-sex ceremonies because of the ‘tax-exemption’ which they say is tantamount to government support. Look for lawsuits in the future over the tax-exempt issue as a leverage against religious freedom and the First Amendment.                 *Top
