Memo stating aliens landed at Roswell released online by the FBI
Guy Hottel, Special Agent in Charge of the FBI’s Washington Field Office, contains interesting claim…
Dateline Zero — The Daily Mail is carrying a sensational headline, proclaiming that this FBI document “proves” that extraterrestrials crashed in Roswell. It doesn’t prove anything; however it is pretty damn interesting.
The U.S. Federal Bureau of Investigation has unveiled an online repository of 2,000 agency files. Featuring searchable dossiers on characters as wide-ranging as Al Capone, Marilyn Monroe, and Notorious B.I.G., ‘The Vault’ contains hot-topic documents that had been previously publicly released in piecemeal in response to Freedom of Information Act requests. These hot-topic documents include a number of UFO-related materials.

What I find interesting is the fact that this particular document isn’t included among the 16 documents in the UFO section; nor is it under the “Roswell” heading. In fact, the only document in the Roswell section is a single-page document that states it was a weather balloon. It’s been given it’s very own section: “Guy Hottel.”
The page has a quick entry on who Guy Hottel was.
Guy Hottel was a Special Agent in Charge of the FBI’s Washington Field Office. The information concerning Mr. Hottel is in regard to a March 22, 1950, memo he sent to the Director concerning flying saucers.
The file itself includes 2 pages, including the coversheet which reads “SUBJECT: GUY HOTTEL (3-22-1950)”
In the document, Agent Hottel is relating something that was told to him by someone else. Names have been redacted; but it reads “the following information was furnished to SA ___ by ___.”
This is why the document doesn’t prove jack crap. This is also probably why the document wasn’t included with the other UFO documents. It’s not a report of evidence, and isn’t even the result of an investigation. The document is merely a single-page memo relating something someone else; it’s probably a third-party rumor.
Nonetheless it’s an intriguing piece of evidence, and has historical value. Agent Hottel reveals that an Air Force investigator had claimed “three so-called flying saucers had been recovered in New Mexico.”
It goes on to say: “They were described as being circular in shape with raised centers, approximately 50 feet in diameter. Each one was occupied by three bodies of human shape but only 3 feet tall.” The agent adds that the bodies were “dressed in a metallic cloth of a very fine texture. Each body was bandaged in a manner similar to the blackout suits used by speed flyers and test pilots.”
You can view the document for yourself HERE. This and many other documents are available for free online through the FBI’s “Vault” website.
