WDBJ Shooting Story - Check Out The Date Stamp On The Tweet

% of readers think this story is Fact. Add your two cents.

We are all hearing about the problems/discrepancies with the shooting of the two reporters in Virginia on August 26th.  I don’t want to be the tin-foiled hat wearing, insensitive conspiracist, but something just isn’t adding up.

The one thing that caught my eye was the fact that the boyfriend, Chris Hurst, sent out a tweet telling people the news of his girlfriend’s death.  According to the news, the reporters were shot at 6:45 a.m.  Why did the Chris Hurst tweet about her death at 6:31 a.m., which was 15 minutes before they were killed?  I am attaching a screen shot I just took with my own computer of his twitter account.  Check out the date stamp. This is not photoshopped or manipulated in any way.    In fact, here is the text link to it if you want to see for yourself:  https://twitter.com/chrishurstwdbj/status/636531364356063232

Now Chris Hurst could have been traveling, or out of state for the time stamp to be so incorrect…  But I have a major problem with the fact that he actually reacted like this!  Who hears that their partner was just shot and immediately jumps onto twitter and posts a photo and a touching message?  Who does that?  If one of my loved ones was just brutally killed, I would be jumping in the car and racing to the scene, hospital or police station.  The last thing on my mind would be to tweet to the world that my loved one was just killed.  I would be frantic trying to figure out what happened, why and what in the world will I do next…  Not Chris.  He is cool headed enough to write out a touching, heartfelt letter and have the time to attach a special photo.

Other reporters have already stated the obvious:

1) He walks right up to the people being interviewed holding a gun and no one looks at him…  at 6:45 in the morning.  No one is around that early in the morning.   If you were being interviewed, wouldn’t you wonder who this  guy is walking down the pier right at you and ends up standing 4 feet from you?  Not only does he walk right up to them, he points his gun at the reporter.  No one notices.  Then drops it down and re-positions.  What was he waiting for?

2) If it was a racial thing as he says is was, why didn’t he shoot the white person who was being interviewed

3) How did the police identify the killer that quick?  When I worked in law enforcement, I wish our cases were wrapped up 3 hours later.

4) The news said he rented a car and drove toward DC (in rush hour?).  How did they know he rented a car that quick?

5) How did they find him in this rented car 3 hours away?  Were police on the look-out 180 miles away from the killing?  I am guessing the police found him by the transponder in the car.

6) I used to do videography and photography for a major city.  To get the shot, you have to drive to the location and set up all the camera’s and such and that takes time.  So I guess this shooter was following them from 5 am in the morning?  If he was not following them, then how did he know where they were going to be?  It doesn’t make sense.

One again, we are seeing strange activities happening where it does not add up!

      How can that be?

The link does check out. Who knows?

He is a reporter. Look how many hits his post received. Maybe he thought it was good to post and get noticed due to the sympathy.

    • Jesus_is_Lord

Cops 3 hours away found the car? That is a stretch.

    • truckdriver

“They” found him because of “the” system. They must have used google.

    • Mental-Dental

There’s no way I’d be posting for weeks. I live on my phone, but I can’t imagine jumping in to tweet about something so tragic!

    • PeppermintPatty

Not into conspiracy, but the time thing is definitely worth looking into.

    • HeartSong

Also, what was the response time for the police to get there? How fast did they get the tape to the studio to check the film in slow motion? My brother is a cop and he has said that all cops do is show up after the crime has happened and take notes. Most crimes are never solved.

I just looked at his tweet. Time stamp is 9:31. You can take off the hat.

    • Jess2015

Okay-I’d like to comment from a local person’s perspective. I live and have grown up around Smith Mountain Lake.
      First the twitter post:
Chris did post at 6:31-PACIFIC TIME. Twitter’s headquarters is located in California, thus the time stamp is defaulted to pacific time-3 hours behind us in VA. If I log in and view it from my personal account (Eastern time), it says it was posted at 9:31am, but if I view it while logged out it is in California’s time. So he had almost 3 hours to grieve before posting. This was NOT posted before the event. Plus, I believe having a major media career would make you more likely to reach out to media to share in grief/get comfort/etc. thus his post was made.
      Now for the other points:
1-have you ever stood in front of a camera for tv? There is a huge light on top of the camera which basically blinds the interviewers from their surroundings. The lady who survived even attested that they could not see anything behind the camera due to the blinding camera light. She said they heard the shots before they could see what was going on. Also, Bridgewater is not an open pier-it is an enclosed area of many hallways in between shops and restaurants. The sight lines are not clear, so he could have easily snuck up behind them.
2-He targeted two of his coworkers, who he believed made racist comments (which documented were the use of words “field” and “swing” in normal conversation-not directed towards him). He did shoot the third woman in the back, who curled up in a ball who he then walked past most likely to make sure the others were dead. He believed his coworkers to be racist, even though it was obviously not true based on his filed complaints-the woman being interviewed was most likely collateral damage in his mind.
3-It took the police quite a while to identify the shooter. But seeing as they had the video, a record on his twitter account, and a known fax to ABC news from Bryce I’m sure he wasn’t hard to identify. He didn’t exactly keep it a secret.
4-Bryce had rented the car weeks before. Once the police recognized him as a suspect, they were able to run data on him and retrieve this information. Also-I’m pretty sure Bridgewater has cameras-and could have seen the car and license plate and traced it.
5-At first an area search was conducted. Offices (including mine) and schools were put on lockdown while police questioned and searched. They also put out a state wide search and used a LPR-License Plate Reader-to locate his car. From my understanding a state police’s LPR finally located his rental car.
6-The morning show always does a “teaser” segment in the 5am hour telling viewers where they are shooting live (sort of like an advertisement to keep people watching). They did this segment and then didn’t actually go live until 6:45am. I’m not sure where he lived, but Roanoke (where I’m assuming he lived) is less than an hour from the lake. He didn’t set up cameras, he used a go pro type camera requiring no set up-so he wouldn’t have needed to be prepped for this.

Anyways, I just thought I’d offer some of my input. I know that this wasn’t a conspiracy-these young lives were taken by a sick man seeking unjust vengeance. Hopefully I clarified some things for you all.

The timestamp on the tweet is in Pacific time, 3 hours behind Eastern time, which is where Roanoke, VA is. So technically he wasn’t 12 minutes early, he was 3 hours late.

    • Discreet Prepper

I know, that is why I had to post what I saw. The date and time cannot be denied.

    • Discreet Prepper

That is a good ay of looking at it. Maybe he’s shallow.

    • Discreet Prepper

Yea. When I was an active law enforcement officer, you rarely ever rolled up on a crime in action. Also, response times were about 5-8 minutes depending on how many were on and if you were in the middle of something.

    • Discreet Prepper

      ha-ha-ha!

    • Discreet Prepper

My sister can’t live without her phone. She does everything with it. When we just had a family member die, nothing was posted for days.

    • Discreet Prepper

I know! How long did it take to find the Boston Bombers? They had to lock down the city and go door to door.

    • Discreet Prepper

Not every conspiracy theory is crazy. This country was wounded on creating them.

    • Discreet Prepper

I wanted to post on the twitter feed and question it to him, but I know I would have been attacked from every angle.
