Ozark Property Rights Congress
About What We Believe: Private Property Rights are at the very heart of our freedoms. Without protections of private property rights nothing else is secure. The right to own and reasonably use private property is a cornerstone of the U.S. Constitution, differentiating our country from others around the world. As John Adams, one of our nation’s Founding Fathers and our second president, said: “The moment the idea is admitted into society that property is not as sacred as the laws of God, and there is not a force of law and public justice to protect it, anarchy and tyranny commence.” Productive Land Use assures America’s economic security. Public lands are mandated by Congress to be “multiple use,” including timber, mining, grazing, and recreation. These uses are the economic lifeblood of rural communities & local governments, as well as the basis of their culture & customs. Landowners are the real conservationists. The land makes them their living, they must take care of it. The Government oversees over 614 million acres, an area more than six times the size of California. While the number of dollars spent on public lands has gone up and land set aside for conservation has increased, the quality of the lands have deteriorated. Despite resources with a value exceeding $150 billion there is no net return to taxpayers. Because of poor management, the Government actually loses money on its rich resources. We don’t need government and NGOs telling us how to manage our land. Share and Enjoy:
