This was on the front page of Friday’s Bury Free Press newspaper. Below it is an email I sent to the News Editor. Please give this the maximum coverage you feel able to. I’m not on Facebook or Twitter so could someone them a go?

Dear Mr. Anslow,
I am a 71 year old pensioner, patriot and one who is heartily sick of the state of this country.

I was appalled at the headline on Friday’s newspaper in which you seemed to think that making a reference to the political affiliation of David Lucas adds to his alleged crime. There two things wrong with this; one I can deal with and the other I can’t. The one I can’t deal with is the way the court has dealt with Mr. Lucas in clearly victimising him for being a member of the BNP and for owning a ‘potentially’ lethal weapon. This is an absurd allegation as anything can be a potential weapon. The keyboard I’m using to type this could give someone a very nasty injury if I hit them with it.

However the second thing that I can deal with is to accuse you and your newspaper of victimising a man because he belongs to a legally constituted political party – the fastest growing one in the country. What reason could you have for revealing his political allegiance? I noticed that you didn’t mention the political allegiance of Luke Myers (page 2) accused of an attack on a cemetery, or James Jerrold (page 3) who owned two real lethal weapons – shotguns, or Robert Stenning (page 11) who dowloaded more than 180 indecent images of children, or the four men (page 13) charged with an affray? If you do decide in future to mention the political affiliations of all wrong doers you report then why not, just to keep a fair balance in line with today’s equality rules, mention the political affiliations of ALL people reported in your paper?

As I said earlier the BNP is fastest growing political party in the country and the establishment is running scared of them because they are voicing the true feelings of the UK public. I imagine that you have been given a diktat from whoever controls your newspaper to take every opportunity to damage the BNP. The EHRC tried it and they failed and will now have to pay the BNP, from the taxpayers account, their very large legal costs. The BBC also tried it and lost.

I shall pass this email, along with a copy of the front page to as many people as possible to get the largest coverage of your shameful action.
