The Commute From Hell--Passenger Assaults Woman With Feces-Filled Sock

Mass transit systems nationwide are dealing with an  increasing number of attacks on passengers and drivers. Cracked, and impassible sidewalks make life challenging for handicapped riders–and have generated ADA lawsuits. 

Drivers and riders have been shot, beaten and attacked.  

A woman riding the Chicago Transit Authority’s Blue Line in Oak Park told police she was attacked by another passenger wielding a sock filled with human feces.

“He had a sock full of his poop on me,” the 21-year-old college student said..

“It was everywhere; on my face, my hair, my clothes.”

The victim, requesting anonymity, said she screamed and tried to follow her attacker, but he escaped up the Austin Boulevard exit and ran northbound on Austin.

Police retrieved a photo of a person of interest matching the description the woman and other witnesses gave.  Full Article

Dangerous streets and intersections pose major problems, particularly in cash-strapped municipalities. 

“It is a problem with a dangerous bus stop near Grove Street and Front Street,” Councilor Robert J. Zygarowski said. 

The issue came up in the council’s Public Safety Committee and while talking about it, the group decided it would be a good idea to review all the bus stops in the city to see if any others should be modified as well, he said.  READMOREHERE
