“Court Innovations expands access to the courts for citizens who cannot miss work or family care to attend court, or who fear coming to court because of their race, ethnicity, or immigration status. With its Matterhorn product, anyone can use a mobile phone or computer to resolve and negotiate infractions and lesser misdemeanors. Citizens use Matterhorn to resolve traffic and parking tickets, warrants, family court compliance, plea online, or file a small claims civil case.“

Who wouldn’t want to sit at home and hope the judge and DA read your smartphone documents?

“As we roll out our Matterhorn product nationally, it’s exciting to see such broad interest in our work to make justice accessible to everyone.” said Court Innovations CEO MJ Cartwright. “Through all our funders, we pulled in investment from current partners and attracted new supporters from 48 states and Washington, D.C.”

Matterhorn claims they will “make justice accessible to everyone.”

It’s hard enough to convince a judge that police lie, but now courts want the public to sit at home and hope a judge will find in their favor? 

The public is in for a rude awakening, when they get a message on their smartphones informing them, they’ve been found guilty.

I wonder if the public will thank Matterhorn, for making justice accessible to everyone?
 

Judge claims Matterhorn allows citizens to give her more information 

The Judge’s statement is ludicrous, the reasons why a cop and DA would want people to use Matterhorn are too numerous to mention here. One of the reasons a judge would want people to use Matterhorn is to speed up their cases so they can leave court early, in many cases to get a jump on the weekend or get out on the golf course.

Law enforcement is always looking for ways to increase revenue. With Matterhorn, police have just been handed a ‘golden ticket’. Profits will rise, as an apathetic public sits at home waiting for the courts to rule in their favor.

Matterhorn speeds up cases and saves courts money

Matterhorn admits their product is all about speeding up cases and saving courts money.

“For courts, Matterhorn’s online case resolution saves time, resources and money, ultimately leading to increased efficiency. Courts case closure times dropped from 50 days to 17 days, and staff time/case dropped from an average of 2.5 hours to less than 30 minutes with Matterhorn.”

Cops won’t have to show up and testify

“It allows officers to stay on the streets. It allows citizens to stay at home, or at work. It allows the judiciary to deal with cases that demand you come to court” Chief Judge Brigette said.

“…The way budgets are these days, the police do not have to show up, which means they can do it from their office if they have to do anything. It eliminates the court time which means we don’t have to put that on our docket. And it also frees up time for the magistrate, of course” Judge Thomas Truesdell said.

Matterhorn essentially says goodbye to the Daubert standard because police won’t have to worry about being cross examined.

I couldn’t hope to cite all the reasons why NO ONE should use Matterhorn. But let us face the facts, the younger generation see smartphones as indispensable and will embrace Matterhorn. That’s what the police, courts and DA’s are counting on.

One reason to never use your smartphone to submit evidence; The police or DA can and probably will get a search warrant for your phone and presto, your smartphone is now the property of the Court.

With Matterhorn, facing a clerk magistrate or judge will be a thing of the past as courts and police departments will rake in the profits.  With so much money to be made, I predict Matterhorn will be in every courtroom within 5-10 years.

If courts and police convince the public to sit at home and hope for justice then we’ve already lost.
