Monday Supermoon Mega-Quake Coming?

Something special is coming on November 14, 2016 – a “Supermoon.”

A supermoon is the coincidence of a full moon or a new moon with the closest approach the Moon makes to the Earth on its elliptical orbit, resulting in the largest apparent size of the lunar disk as seen from Earth.

November’s full moon on Monday (Nov. 14) will be the biggest and brightest one since 1948, making it a great time to get outside and marvel at the lunar sight for stargazers around the world. But if it happens to be cloudy in your area, don’t despair. You can still watch the so-called “supermoon” online in several live webcasts, starting tonight (Nov. 13).

The Full Beaver Moon of November is called the supermoon because the full phase is taking place at the moon’s closest point in its orbit around the Earth, also called the perigee. NASA says the moon will appear slightly larger than a typical full moon, at about 15 percent larger. The moon won’t look this large again until 2034.

A pattern of natural disasters seems to accompany Supermoons. Scientists are quick to dismiss these as coincidence. The very day of the 9.0 mega-quake in Japan, this article came out:

A “supermoon” is coming and conspiracy theorists believe it will cause a moonageddon.

While astronomers and other scientists suggest everyone just take a chill pill and enjoy the prospect of a larger moon on March 19, US astrologist Richard Nolle believes it heralds disaster.

“Supermoons, in fact, have a historical association with strong storms, very high tides, extreme tides and also earthquakes,” Mr Nolle told ABC Radio this week.

Already, on Sunday, November 11, we have been impacted by a 7.8 earthquake in New Zealand, and a 6.2 Earthquake has just struck Argentina. What is next?

The Book of Genesis says God uses the sun, moon, and stars for signs and seasons. Examples can be found throughout the Bible. Think of how a star led the wise men to Jesus or how the sun stood still as Joshua led Israel to victory over its enemies. It is noteworthy that this Supermoon will be  “…the biggest and brightest one since 1948”, when Israel was reborn as a nation. Something is telling us to pay attention.

We don’t believe in panic, but we do endorse preparation, especially if you live near a earthquake zone or an area vulnerable to a tsunami. These tips are from Ready.gov:

You may only have seconds to protect yourself in an earthquake. Before an earthquake occurs, secure items that could fall and cause injuries (e.g., bookshelves, mirrors, light fixtures). Store critical supplies (e.g., water, medication) and documents.

For a tsunami:

* Follow the evacuation order issued by authorities and evacuate immediately. Take your animals with you.
* Move to high ground or inland and away from water immediately.
* Stay away from the beach. Never go down to the beach to watch a tsunami come in. If you can see the wave you are too close to escape it. CAUTION – If there is noticeable recession in water away from the shoreline this is nature’s tsunami warning and it should be heeded. You should move away immediately.
* Save yourself – not your possessions.
* Remember to help your neighbors who may require special assistance – infants, elderly people, and individuals with access or functional needs.
