T-Mobile and MetroPCS Want to Merge: The Washington Angle

T-Mobile and MetroPCS want to get hitched, but federal regulators will decide when and if there will be a wedding. Nothing is certain in Washington, D.C. except debt and taxes, but the WSJ’s Amy Schatz and Brent Kendall tell Corporate Intelligence that this mobile phone deal is likely to encounter less static than the ill-fated ATT/T-Mobile combination.

The Federal Communications Commission and the Justice Department will review the T-Mobile/MetroPCS deal. The FCC gets a say because there would be a transfer of control over MetroPCS’s spectrum licenses to T-Mobile, a unit of Deutsche Telekom AG. Justice handles the competition review.

This is good news for SOLAVEI, which has there $49 per month 4G Nationwide Unlimited Voice, Text, and Data, & No Contract serivce that is backboned on T-mobile’s cell towers.
