Think Clinton’s corruption is bad? This is the crony behavior millions of Americans ignore

Or the electorate? Or the electorate?

Who enabled the Clinton corruption? We did. Or at least many of us did. It’s on us. We helped create the ugly political culture we see today. We’ve tolerated corruption and dishonesty with the Clintons and we’ve tolerated it from the Republicans too. We need to look in the mirror post election and consider what we will tolerate from our politicians and ourselves going forward.

(From The Conservative Review)

In the early days, there were Whitewater, TravelGate, one-hundred-to-one returns on cattle futures trading, etc. None of these incidents derailed the Clintons’ political success. Why? Because millions of Americans didn’t care if the Clintons were corrupt or not. I will never forget a report in The Wall Street Journal, very early in Bill Clinton’s presidency. A woman in a crowd called out to the president of the United States something to the effect of, “Don’t worry about Whitewater, Bill. Just keep our welfare checks coming!”

There you have it: However corrupt the Clintons are, they get away with it because of the greater corruption of far too many Americans who care nothing for right versus wrong or for real justice, but who simply want their own piece of something-for-nothing.
