See, the thing is “progressives” libertarians have been “woke” for a long time. You guys think you’re awake, but you’re still asleep ranting about Trump while your country evaporates in front of you. You support the Federal Reserve, and the surveillance state, and the vast federal bureaucracy, and the “deep state”, and calls to limit speech, and Hillary Clinton, and John Podesta, and the general undermining of this country as a bastion for ACTUAL LIBERALISM.

I don’t agree with everything in the following op-ed. But man alive, I agree with a whole bunch of it.

What happened to you “liberals”? Have you become so intoxicated with Rainbow Fascism (really totalitarianism, but we’ll let the fascism definition slide here) that you can’t even see reality anymore?

No, we know that many “liberals” can see. They are just afraid to speak up. They don’t want to be the ones to say that Obama was an extension of Bush. They don’t want to admit that they are secretly happy Hillary lost. They don’t want to be those people for fear that the PC police might come and repossess their Priuses. (Or Teslas.)

Fear drives totalitarianism, and “liberals” have given into it on a mass scale in this country.

Trump ain’t your biggest problem “liberals”. Not by a long shot.

We libertarians, we noisy Ron Paulites, warned you people that this was happening. But you just followed Obama and the media blindly, and have continued to.

Better get ACTUALLY WOKE. And soon.

There’s a popular quote of unknown origin that usually goes something like “When fascism comes to America, it will be wrapped in a flag and carrying a cross.”

It’s a good quote, whoever said it. It warns that if manipulative oppressors are going to seize control of a nation’s government, they will obviously need to do so by appealing to the spirit of the times, the current values system of the masses. They’re not going to make their entrance screaming “Freedom is slavery!” while a band plays the Darth Vader theme. This is obvious to anyone who possesses any insight into how people think and behave.

But it’s a quote from a bygone age. Christianity and flag-waving patriotism still hold value in red states, but they’ve become largely invisible to the major culture factories of New York and Los Angeles, and thus to the dominant culture of the greater United States. If fascism came to America wrapped in a flag and carrying a cross today, it wouldn’t have enough broad public support to implement its agendas, because crosses and flags don’t hold that much sway over America’s dominant value system. In order to rope in those who don’t value the old cultural value symbols, something more is needed.

So when fascism came to America, it came wrapped in a rainbow flag, and wearing a pussyhat…

…That said, the painted face of enlightened coastal liberalism has facilitated the agendas of the oppression machine far more. The drop in healthy suspicion of the US intelligence community, the demand for online censorship, the manufactured support for world-threatening cold war escalations — these things didn’t come from the red states.
