If you want to get a sense of what’s happening in the world, your best bet is to ignore Government data and focus on corporate revenues.
Why revenues? Because earnings can be massaged any number of ways (depreciation methods, laying off staff to cut costs, depletion of loan loss reserves for banks, etc.). But you cannot fake actual money coming in the door.
With that in mind, I want to draw your attention to the recent drop in corporate revenues at a number of corporations including Proctor and Gamble, Starbucks, AT&T, CB Richard Ellis, Safeway, American Express, IBM.

My hometown bustled, corner drug stores. grocery stores. nice clothing shops around the square, furniture stores, anything you need..then here comes a Walmart, then a Super Walmart. The town square was in ruins within 10 years. NO I DO NOT SHOP WALMART. Have to drive 50 miles to the City for a Macy’s and Dillards. It is worth the drive though.
Other stores have missed out by not competing bringing customers back to them.
If people worried as much about the Spiritual condition of this country as they do about the finances, we would not have a financial problem!

Looks to me like the stock market is where all the newly created money is going as the banking system creates it out of thin air. It sure isn’t going into the real economy or else sales would be up in real terms and there would be more jobs.
So even if they manage to make a stock market bubble over the remainder of 2013, even if they can get stock values to double or triple, after 2013 it will come back down (either slowly or rapidly) to reflect the reality of the times we are in.
That reality is cheap energy is gone. We may be able to find more oil, coal, and natural gas, but the cost to acquire it keeps on climbing at a compound rate. This means that every year after paying the cost in terms of energy expended, there is less remaining out of each barrel of oil, each ton of coal, or each mcf of natural gas to fuel the economy. We can’t expand total energy production fast enough any more to offset the relentlessly increasing costs, so the economy can only shrink more and more as there is less and less net energy to fuel it each year.
The only good thing about this disaster is that it will probably force an end to the federal government since we won’t be able to afford a spendthrift centralized, inefficient, out of touch government. Everything will become localized because nature will demand it, and the bloated world population will of necessity fall back to levels that can be supported by the reduced output of a steadily shrinking economy.
And maybe the mexicans will go home too.

Corporate revenues are downed because people are still unemployed and not getting raises to match inflations!!!!! Therefore, instead of buying P&G products, they buy cheap generic brands. Instead of drinking iced mocha caramel grande size Frappucinos, they are now drinking cheap instant mix coffee. Instead of using expensive data plan that overcharges subscribers, people are now looking for free WiFi zones. Have you seen those Dollar Tree or 99 Cent stores revenues? Irony is that while average American citizens are trying to survice amid ongoing economic downfall, the rich are spending money like there is no tomorrow. A Hedge Fund manager just bought $90 million dollar penthouse in NYC!!! Yes, freaking $90 million!!!!!! Have you seen what they drive? They drive million dollar, one-of-a-kind 1000 hp supercharge sports cars!!!
The founder of Walmart is probably turning over in his grave after seeing the [beast] that walmart has turned into. Do walmart execs. realize that when our country falls they are falling with us?

This could be true. I went into a Wal-mart the other day and there was nobody in the store except three old ladies on the registers and one staff-member covering every department in the store. When I asked her for help finding an item, she ran away — as Wal-mart staff-members are apparently trained to do whenever asked for help.

Dear Walmart.
When a customer purchases a product from one of your stores and returns it because it’s defective, please have the courtesy to mark and send the product back to the manufacturer as defective rather than having your employees return it to the shelves to be sold again. So many times in the past, I have purchased an item only to bring it home and discover the product has been used, repackaged, and sold again to me, AND IT’S STILL DEFECTIVE. What kind of customer care is this Walmart?
May I also ask why Walmart puts RFID tags in all of its clothing? I refuse to purchase any clothing from Walmart because of this fact.
