The Importance of Being: The Weekend Vigilante November 15, 2014

Hello from Anarchapulco,

As you’ve noticed I haven’t been writing regularly on the weekends for the last few months.  I alluded to my intention to do this a few months ago when I said that I wanted to spend more time with my family and find a more balanced and connected/deep/spiritual lifestyle.

As with almost everything I write about I don’t just talk about it but I do it and I have been exploring this lifestyle for the last few months and have discovered many insights that you might find interesting.

A STATE OF BEING

We often write about our Five Killer B’s to survive and prosper during and after The End Of The Monetary System As We Know It (TEOTMSAWKI).  They are bullion, bitcoin, bullets, bud and “being”.  The “being” part is a fairly loose term but, in general, what it means is being physically, mentally and spiritually prepared for what will be a tumultous time.

After years of living on airplanes and in hotels as I travelled to countless conferences to speak and numerous business meetings as I set-up ventures to survive TEOTMSAWKI worldwide I found I had burned out somewhat.  This all led to a massive amount of stress that led me to drink quite a bit to deal with the stress… which, of course, didn’t really help out much and actually further increased my stress and exhaustion.

By the summer it began to come down to a choice.  Do I keep up my 7 days per week, 18 hours per day of work including many evenings drinking with business associates and clients until I eventually collapsed?  Or take a step back, rebalance and discover new ways to live and work that are even more enjoyable and productive?

I chose #2 and so far I couldn’t be happier with my choice.

Less Booze

I stopped drinking for a number of months just to get started and that was very enjoyable forcing myself to find new ways to get over my discomfort of large social gatherings (such as the many conferences I was attending) and to find ways to be creative with my writing without the help of a few glasses of wine.  I have since been on and off on drinking but am currently in a stage where, at maximum once per week, and only when out with friends or clients, do I have a few drinks.

But, as I’ll explain to you, it is the other things I have been doing that have made me barely want to rarely have a drink at all and still feel like I can be outgoing and creative.  I’ve discovered some amazing things in the last few months.

Organic Supplements

The next thing that boosted my overall vibrancy level was a few natural substances that I had never heard of but came about during my research and from some very knowledgeable friends (a TDV subscriber who was visiting Acapulco from China introduced them to me) in the area of natural health.

One is called MSM (Methylsulfonylmethane), an organosulfur compound, and the other was an enzyme called Wobenzym N.  I am no expert in any of these things and so I won’t get into the reasons why they may or may not work but I tried them and noticed a definite uptick in my energy and feeling of overall health.  MSM, in particular seems to have a very vague history and many people are not even sure why it works… but many say it does, to cure yourself of countless ailments.  Just knowing that MSM has not been approved by the US government for medical use was reason enough for me to try it though!

Less Travel and Never Again to the USSA

The next step in rebalancing my life was turning down the countless invitations I get to speak at conferences.  In the past few years I accepted almost every request to speak at conferences worldwide.  However, last month I reached my breaking point on that.

It all started when I was thrown off a plane headed to a conference in the US when I made a joke about ebola.  After being interrogated for hours over what was clearly a joke and having the airline cancel all my flights I realized a few things.  The first was that constant travelling was very stressful and tiring.  And, the second was, that every time I go to the US it is never enjoyable and always left me in a very foul mood (if not in handcuffs numerous times for absolutely nothing).

And so, after saying I was going to do it for years I have finally decided: I will never go to the USSA again until after the Empire has collapsed (which shouldn’t be too long now).

Just making this decision alone made me feel much better.  It felt like a huge weight off my back.  And once I did I reconsidered whether going to any conference anymore was even worth the trouble… no matter where it was.  I then decided to cancel my upcoming appearance at Bitcoin South in New Zealand (partly because the only reasonable way to get there from Mexico is via the US) and cancelled my appearance at the Vancouver Resource Investment Conference in January as well.

My normally cramped appearance list only has two upcoming conferences and they’ll both be in Mexico… a place where I feel comfortable, happy and most at home.

In January I will be returning to Andrew Henderson’s the Passport to Freedom event.  I spoke at his last conference in Las Vegas but this one will be held in Cancun… Andrew also is trying to never return to the US again either… that’s actually something I hear nearly daily now.  Not only are people leaving the US in droves but many of those who leave have no intention of going back until after the collapse.

Passport To Freedom is meant to be a three day “one stop shop” for anything and everything to do with internationalizing your wealth and your self.  There will be a lot of information on offshore banking, incorporation, trusts, expatriation and second passports.  I’ll be there speaking on all those topics as well as hosting a special “Fireside Chat” on the final evening with a glass of scotch and a cigar that should be a fun way to end a few days jam-packed with information and insights on how to internationalize yourself and get your ass and assets out of dodge.  (if you register in the next 48 hours you receive a $500 discount off of the price of the event by clicking here)

And then, in February, I’ll be staying even closer to home as I host Anarchapulco 2015.  If you haven’t been to the website lately you should check it out as we have added a ton of new workshops, speakers and events at what will be an incredible event.  There will be a two day entrepreneurship bootcamp run by Exosphere, a one day Unschooling and Peaceful Parenting workshop run by Dayna Martin and a one day independent media workshop by Luke Rudkowski of We Are Change and Dan Dicks of Press For Truth (see video here for more)… and that’s all before the conference starts.  There will be world renowned speakers on cryptocurrencies, bitcoin, bitcoin 2.0, expatriation, entrepreneurship, Austrian economics and much more.  That will be from February 27th to March 1st.  The first 100 people who register get $50 off the conference (which is only $145) and off each workshop as well.  We are close to 100 now and it will likely surpass that this week so if you want to get the discount I suggest you register now.

Yoga and Meditation

But probably the changes that have most added to my sense of well being in the last few months has been getting into yoga and meditation.

I had done yoga in the past but mostly for exercise and never explored it further than that.  What I have discovered is that I was missing the point entirely with yoga.

I have been spending time in the last few months searching out information and kept getting drawn towards meditation.  As I continued to search I came across great and fascinating information from people such as Eckhart Tolle who has a wonderful view on life and living in the now.  I then came across this video with Jerry Seinfeld who has been doing transcendental meditation for over forty years and claims it is what gave him the ability to do so much great work.

Then I came across this of Jim Carrey giving a commencement speech at the Maharishi University of Management where he also talks about how important meditation has been for him.

And so, after months of reading and researching on various topics of spirituality, state of mind, energy and more I decided it was time to at least try meditation seriously.  I took advice from numerous people I know who have years or decades of positive experience with meditation and tried it out.

It actually was really strange to do at first.  I think that is because my entire life I’ve always thought that most of the ways to improve yourself were external.  Reading, learning, working, going to the gym, etc… They are all great, of course, but the thought that I could improve myself by, essentially, not doing anything at all (ie. shutting the mind off and sitting in a state of silence) seemed very foreign and I was skeptical.

Well, I am skeptical no more… in fact, after just a few weeks the changes have been dramatic.  I only wish I knew about the power of meditation and yoga decades ago!

I won’t go into all the reasons why it is so great here… especially as I am still very early in the learning curve… but I suggest you watch this presentation from Harvard trained quantum physicist John Hagelin to get a taste.

In fact, many high level theoretical scientists are starting to speak more and more about these things… it is actually utterly fascinating and more than I can write about here.

But, after a few weeks of twice or three times daily yoga and meditation it has already brought a great amount of change in my life.  At the most basic level I have boundless energy for the first time in years, if not decades.  There are scientific reasons for this that have been studied quite heavily that show that meditation gives your body and mind a more meaningful rest than even the best night’s sleep.  That is because you can attain, very easily, an even more restful state through meditation than through sleep.

After just a few weeks my sleeping patterns have changed dramatically.  I used to stay up quite late and never really felt like I had very many good sleeps.  But now I have been going to sleep before midnight and even today I woke up at 5:30am (about 5 hours earlier than I used to) and felt totally refreshed (even after going out last night for dinner and drinks with some friends who just moved to Acapulco).  I have never, in my life, woken up at 5:30am under any circumstances and felt totally refreshed and ready to tackle the day!

I’ve felt incredibly focused when I am working and find that I get much more done in much less time… leaving more time for yoga and meditation which I do out on my balcony overlooking Acapulco Bay (which I have to admit makes it even more easy and enjoyable) twice per day… once in the morning and once in the late afternoon.  I do it for about 30 minutes each time and come out of it every time feeling relaxed, energized and balanced.

Don’t Worry Be Happy

Along with all the great effects on my energy levels and overall health I’ve also been delving into all facets of consciousness and ways of living life.  It’s truly been fascinating and perhaps I’ll write more on it as I learn more.

But, one of the things I’ve noticed from many readers and subscribers, especially when I have met them at conferences, is an almost palpable sense of fear and worry about the future.

I’ve always said that I don’t worry much and don’t even think too much about the future other than a general sense of planning when it comes to business and things of that nature…  but I didn’t realize until recently just how important it is to live that way.

Eckhart Tolle really opened my eyes further to the importance of this… Here is a brief video explaining it here.

A lot of this sort of thinking used to be in the realm of what people think of from “hippies”.  But more and more, people from all walks of life including theoretical physicists, biologists, business people and even athletes are finding the power of all these concepts… and that now includes myself also.

It gets really deep, and seems a little crazy, the further you delve into these things but I think it is important for everyone to explore these concepts and put them into action… especially those who are fearful of the changes about to happen as The End Of The Monetary System As We Know It (TEOTMSAWKI) continues on.  Of course, I made up that acronym from the widely used, The End Of The World As We Know It (TEOTWAWKI) and the more that I think about it, TEOTMAWKI may be a better acronym for what is happening and moreso for what will happen in the coming years.

In short, everything will change.  The pace of change, as well, is going exponential too (my topic in this weeks TDV Homegrown).

That’s why “being” is the most important of the 5 B’s.  If you are not physically, mentally and spiritually prepared for what is going to be an epic period of change then all the other B’s are meaningless.

We’ll be talking about all the B’s, in depth, at Anarchapulco of course… but each day (optionally) starts with Hatha yoga and astral travel meditation right on the beach.  And, rather than sluggishly getting out of bed and missing it after what I am sure will be a fair amount of drinks each evening as we celebrate, I’ll be there, bright and early thanks to this new source of energy I’ve found which tops anything I’ve ever tried.

Who knew, it was right there inside of each of us the entire time, we just have to tap into it.
