Life partners, authors and co-founders of the Burba Hotel Network (BHN) and the entertainment production company, Burba Hayes LLC, Jim Burba and Bob Hayes, will speak at Burba’s alma mater, Michigan State University, at The School of Hospitality Business, on Friday October 28, 2016. Burba and Hayes will share their personal and business journey with over 600 students by highlighting passages from their newly released general business/how-we-did-it-book, Smart Partners: Building Successful Relationships in Business and Life [SelectBooks]. In addition, the authors will meet with several members of faculty and student leaders to share their story.

International Lodging, Finance and Real Estate Professor in The School of Hospitality Business, Dr. A.J. Singh stated, “Smart Partners was very insightful and surprisingly candid. I think it will form a very good impression on young people looking to discover their path, and themselves.” Dr. Singh continued, “As Socrates said many years ago, ‘To thine own selves be true.’ A timeless lesson that they bring out in this book. Furthermore, the 13 chapters in the book are full of very practical suggestions for students as they explore the resources available to make principle based smart decisions on creating partnerships that result in a ‘Win-Win-Win’ outcome.”

Smart Partners,” released in early September 2016, outlines the methods and thinking Burba and Hayes have used to achieve financial success while also keeping their personal partnership alive and thriving. Drawing on their unique experiences both personally and professionally, they present principles for building, sustaining, and growing not merely serviceable relationships in business and life, but true partnerships. “We are looking forward to be speaking to at MSU, although Jim is really very excited to be returning to his alma mater the day before the BIG football game against the ‘other’ Big 10 state university” said Hayes. “It will be great to be back on campus talking about our book Smart Partners to students who are getting ready to make their marks on the world,” stated Burba. “And the timing couldn’t be better, GO GREEN/GO WHITE,” Burba added with enthusiasm!

For more than 26 years, Jim Burba and Bob Hayes have been partners in life and business. Their book, Smart Partners (2016, SelectBooks, NYC), available in bookstores and on Amazon, explores their principles for partnership success. Co-founders of Burba Hotel Network and Burba Hayes LLC, this couple has formed a power partnership that produces conferences for the hotel investment community, feature films, and Broadway musicals. Since 2000, their conferences have attracted more than 90,000 international delegates in 22 countries. For three years running, Burba and Hayes have been named by Out Magazine as one of the “Power Couples to Know,” with such luminaries and their life partners as clothing designer Tom Ford, singer Sir Elton John, and talk show host Ellen DeGeneres.
