New Huck Finn to replace the word ‘n-word’ with the word ‘robot.’

DATELINE ZERO - A short while ago, a new edition of Huck Finn was released that replaced, um, the “n-word” with the word slave in an effort to make the book more palatable to modern children. It was controversial for obvious reasons. Well, a new group feels that the update doesn’t go far enough. They propose new changes to make the book even more palatable, and controversial, to modern children.

They seek to replace “the word ‘n-word’ with the word ‘robot’ ” among other changes. When I first read about it, I thought it was pretty funny. But then I saw it is a real effort; they have a Kickstarter site up, which has raised more than enough money to get the Huck Finn: Robotic Edition up and running.

Over 800 backers have already helped raise over $21,000 … of the only $6,000 goal! People are still contributing, because this is something worth being a part of … and also to get one of the many exclusive packages offered to those who pledge money.

There’s still 14 days to go; and if you contribute at least $1, you can get a special Huck Finn: Robotic Edition digital pack.

There are other levels of backing this project that include “Illustrated Pack” for $15, which includes a print of an illustration from the original edition of Huck Finn altered to include Robot Jim; a “Cyborg Joe Pack” for the $75-level supporters, which includes a physical copy of the book PLUS your choice of a “Robot Jim” figurine OR a “R-O-B-O-T” necklace, and everything included in the “illustrated pack.”

This is a project that I feel is important to modern culture. This is something I am totally on board with. This is something that must be done … *I am typing as passionately as possible* … for the children.
