Rhode Island Producer Chad A. Verdi Comments on Prior $1M Offer for Life Rights to the Amanda Knox Story and his Decision to Withdraw

EAST GREENWICH, RI – March 26, 2013 (Investorideas.com Newswire) Rhode Island Producer Chad A. Verdi comments on his previously announced official offer of One Million Dollars (U.S. $1,000,000) for the life rights to the Amanda Knox story and his decision to withdraw.

Mr. Verdi notes, “looking back I am very happy I decided to go in a different direction.”

If the offer had been accepted, the film would have been produced by Mr. Verdi and Noah Kraft. The offer was made through Verdi Productions and was being handled by Hollywood entertainment attorney, Anita First.

Verdi and Kraft, who specialize in comeback stories, reached out to Ms. Knox in 2011, once they heard that she had been acquitted. “We had hoped the offer would have been accepted and that filming would have begun as early as January 2013,” stated Mr. Verdi, who is the President and CEO of Verdi Productions. “My attorney contacted Theodore Simon, Ms. Knox’s U.S. counsel at the time.

Mr. Verdi had already secured financing for the Untitled Knox Project, and if a deal had been reached, Verdi’s plans were to make a seven-figure pay-or-play offer to Natalie Portman to play Amanda. Verdi withdrew his official offer of One Million Dollars (U.S. $1,000,000) for Amanda Knox’s life rights when he felt there was more to the story and Amanda would be forced back to Italy and retried.

Mr. Verdi, had stated, “after reviewing all the information we had involving the Knox case, we have decided it was not the inspirational feel good story that VP was looking for and we withdrew our offer.”

Verdi added, “we were of the opinion that the Italian government thought Amanda Knox was more involved than what she had stated and that she would be retried at some point. Now we know we were correct and we are very happy with our decision. It was not the story we were looking for.

Verdi will produce four films in the state of RI starting with Army of the Damned followed by A Bet’s A Bet. Verdi will employ hundreds of people over the next 18 months: “This will be one of the most aggressive production schedules ever attempted by a production company.

It was not our intention to try to film all four feature films in 18 months; we had a five year plan when we started out. But due to actor and director commitments, along with the financing and distribution schedule, we decided to pull the trigger and run with it.”
