(Before It's News)

Los Angeles, CA (October 28, 2016) – No stranger to the big screen, Jeff Gum has already stood alongside some of Hollywood’s biggest movers and shakers. Fresh off his roles in films including “The Vault” with James Franco, and starring in the Lionsgate remake of the George A. Romero classic “Day of the Dead” which is due to be released in 2017, he will now explore new boundaries in “The Forgiven” by Roland Joffé.

“The Forgiven” stars Oscar winning actor Forest Whitaker and Eric Bana. The film follows a Roman Catholic seeking redemption for the crime of murder. Archbishop Desmond Tutu (Forest Whitaker) is morally challenged by the convicted murderer Piet Blomfeld (Eric Bana), who is in prison serving a life sentence for his crimes in post-apartheid South Africa.  Jeff Gum takes on the role of Schmidt, the Antagonist to Archbishop Desmond Tutu and Piet Blomfeld throughout the film.

The film will be helmed by two-time Oscar nominated director Roland Joffe, who co-wrote the screenplay with Michael Ashton.

Jeff Gum  stars in the film, and is also an executive producer. “I feel very passionate about this project. Knowing Roland Joffé directed Oscar winning films such as “The Killing Fields” and “The Mission”, I am really thrilled to be a part of this talented ensemble,” said Gum.
Craig Baumgarten (“Hook,” “Shattered Glass”) will produce with Jeff Rice, Lee Broda, John R. Sherman, and Jeff Gum serving as executive producers.

Jeff Gum brings the strong screen presence, power, and depth needed to effectively execute virtually any role. From the suave business man in the hit TV show “New Girl” to the hardened Miguel Salazar in the Lionsgate thriller “Day of the Dead”, Gum will certainly dazzle in this post-apartheid drama/thriller.

The highly anticipated film will debut next year and begins shooting in late 2016. 13 Films is handling international rights and will introduce the project to buyers at the American Film Market. WME Global is handling North American rights. Gum is represented by Zero Gravity Management.
